Five Gilroy wrestlers will first end at CIF State Championships

Gilroy didn’t capture the Californian Interscholastic Federation State Team Championship in Boys Wrestling on Saturday evening in Bakersfield, however the Mustangs celebrated more individual titles than every other.

The Powerhouse Central Coast Section qualified five wrestlers for the ultimate among the many 14 weight departments, and all five won medals in first place.

That was not enough to stop Buchanan from winning his ninth young team. The heavyweight of the central section ended with 247.5 points, regardless that it only had a single champion. Poway (240) took the second and Gilroy (239) finished third.

However, Gilroy had lots to cheer when coach Daniel Cormier's team stretched victories.

Isaiah Cortez beat Paris Ruiz von Buchanan 9-0 with £ 126. In the subsequent weight class 132 kilos Gilroys defeated Moses Mendoza Billy Townson from Poway 3-1.

Elijah Cortez won and £ 138, Edgging Jesse Grajeda by St. John the Baptist. John Bosco 3-2

Daniel Zepeda called for the title at £ 150 with a 5: 3 victory against Anderson's alias Raby.

Gilroy also won at £ 175 when Tyler Eise Mason Oniveros from Pitman defeated 13-4.

On the side of the women, Palo Alto Freshman Ella Cohen, who competed with £ 105, defeated Ava Fodera from Poway in autumn at 5:20 a.m.

The Clayton Valley took the seventh place in the women' team with 59.5 points and Gilroy was tenth on the age of 52.
