William Lenihan and Aidan Stull were the 2 leading scorers for Menlo with 17 points each, while 10 Knights scored points. Menlo fell to a complete of 12: 6 and back to 2: 2 within the WBAL.

Ryan Schnell, Jackson Flanagan and Ben Salama combined for a two-hitter and Jack Freehill had two hits and three RBIs to guide Menlo School to a house victory over Redding Christian in NorCal play.

Luke Rogers added two hits, including a double, and two RBIs as Menlo improved to 22-9.

Redding Christian is 17-14-1.

No. 5 Oakland Tech 5, No. 4 Lowell 4

Gyasi Rapier had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs to guide Oakland Tech past Lowell and into the Division V semifinals.

The Bulldogs also got two hits and two runs from freshman Kalen Thomas.

Tech plays at No. 1 Menlo on Thursday.

First League

No. 7 Whitney-Rocklin 2, No. 2 Archbishop Mitty 0

Top-seeded St. Francis was not the one top-seeded team within the West Catholic Athletic League to suffer a surprise first-round exit within the NorCal Division I playoffs.

The North Coast Section Division I championship game between top-seeded Granada and No. 2 De La Salle has been moved to Monte High School, NCS Commissioner Pat Cruickshank confirmed to the Bay Area News Group on Wednesday.

The game was originally scheduled to happen at Livermore High School, but on account of parking and capability reasons, the venue was moved to the Danville school.

“Both schools are in agreement with the website,” Cruickshank wrote in a text to the Bay Area News Group.

Granada has not been challenged within the NCS playoffs. The Matadors defeated No. 4 Acalanes 6-0 of their semifinal game on Tuesday and have allowed only one run in three playoff games.

De La Salle stormed back to beat No. 3 College Park 7-3 at home after beating Heritage and Liberty in the primary two rounds.

Granada will attempt to end De La Salle's 33-game postseason winning streak on Friday with pitcher Jake Sekany on the mound. Left-handed pitcher RJ Meyn will likely start for De La Salle.

The teams have played one another once this season. Granada won the sport 5-4 on March 15 on a walk-off hit from Stanford-committed Parker Warner.

“De La Salle is a totally different team,” Warner said after Tuesday's win over Acalanes. “I wouldn't say it's a huge advantage playing against them early in the season, but it's De La Salle and we always bring our best.”

DUBLIN – De La Salle sprinter Jaden Jefferson had never beaten Paul Kuhner of Acalanes in a race before Saturday.

The sophomore knew it could take a special performance to upset the present state leader within the 100-meter dash.

In the ultimate 100 meters, Rogers put his head down and sprinted as fast as he could until he could see the finish line.

“Everyone did their best and put us in a position to win the race,” Rogers said.

The runner from Pittsburg takes first place to take part in other plans

Pittsburg senior Milani Bell had one thing on her mind as she walked into the starting blocks: attending to prom on time.

Bell got here back to win the 400m with a time of 56.33. The senior stayed in the midst of the pack for many of the race, but finished strong in the ultimate 200 meters, beating second-place finisher Sadie Sanders of Montgomery by a tenth of a second.

“My mindset going into this race was to get through it as quickly as possible because I have to go to prom,” Bell said.

“I wanted to hurry up and get this race over with, but it means a lot to me,” she said. “Last year I wasn't that good at this event, so I wanted to show what I can actually do. I also wanted to prove to myself that I could do it, and that’s what I did.”

Pittsburg won the ladies team title with 64 points.
