Saturday night appeared to be business as usual for Kristaps Porzingis. After a slow begin to the season after getting back from injury in November, Porzingis seemingly did all the things he normally would in Boston's win over the Chicago Bulls.

He scored 22 points, second most on the team behind Jayson Tatum's 43-point triple-double, added seven rebounds and two blocks and managed a dunk within the win.

But when asked if he would finally rejoin Kristaps Porzingis tonight, who helped lead Boston on its championship run, the 7-foot-3 center hesitated.

“Honestly, I still get there. I want to feel a little better,” Porzingis said. “I know I'm playing a little better, but my rates aren't perfect. I don't feel my shot perfect. … I know I can play a lot better.

“…I just still feel like I need to conserve some energy. But overall, I’m getting there, and as soon as I get there, you’ll know and I’ll let you know.”

Porzingis has proven that when healthy, he’s the proper addition to Boston's starting lineup. His ability to protect a few of one of the best players within the league while also scoring at multiple levels and stretching the ground is an ideal fit for Joe Mazzulla's systems each offensively and defensively.

However, Porzingis has had some issues staying on the court for prolonged periods of time, as was the case throughout his decade-long NBA profession.

Despite his limited sample size this season, there hasn't been a very notable decline in his offensive game. He is averaging 19.1 points per game, one point lower than last season, and seven.1 rebounds per game, just shy of his 7.2 per game within the 2023-24 season.

A healthy Porzingis makes it even harder to stop an already dangerous Boston unit, so the Celtics are undoubtedly looking forward to him getting back to 100% in the approaching weeks.

The Celtics take a 2-0 lead into Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday, but will face the Mavericks without one in all their key players.

Kristaps Porzingis, who had just returned from a month-long injury break because of a calf strain, excluded from the Celtics shortly before the beginning of Game 3 after suffering one other injury in Game 2.

The injury, described as a “left posterior tibial muscle dislocation,” sustained within the third quarter of Game 2 when he collided with Mavericks center Dereck Lively II while attempting to defend a rebound, was classified as “severe” by Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla in a call with reporters on Tuesday. According to ESPN reporter Tim BontempsPorzingis continues to be listed as “day to day.”

Bontemps also added According to Mazzulla, “the medical team observed some tests on Porzingis and concluded that he is not well enough to play in this game.”

Porzingis' presence was crucial within the 107-89 win in Game 1, as he contributed 20 points in 21 minutes and likewise recorded a complete of three blocks and 6 rebounds.

Previously, the 28-year-old Latvian missed Boston’s playoff run for over a month because of a “Strain of the right soleus” continued into Game 4 of their first-round series against the Heat. The Celtics managed to advance without him, sweeping the Pacers within the Eastern Conference finals.

Still, his loss to Dallas shall be felt. His offseason signing with the Wizards added a brand new dimension to the Celtics' offense, helping Boston post the NBA's best regular season record at 64-18.

The Boston Celtics might be without their big star for much of their playoff run this spring.

Boston ruled out Kristaps Porzingis for Game 5 against the Miami Heat on Wednesday as a result of a right soleus strain. However, the 7-foot-2 forward is predicted to be sidelined for longer than simply the Celtics' potentially pivotal first-round game.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday that Porzingis will miss not less than several games due to a strained soleus, a calf injury. The Celtics haven’t provided a selected timeline for when Porzingis is predicted to return to the hardwood.

Porzingis suffered the injury within the second quarter of Boston's 102-88 win over Miami in Game 4 on Monday night. The 28-year-old center appeared to have suffered an injury in the ultimate minutes of the primary half while attempting to pass the ball to Jaylen Brown. Porzingis limped immediately after the play and signaled to the bench to be faraway from the sport with 2:27 left within the quarter.

Porzingis surrendered after Boston's win on the Kaseya Center Although a soleus strain won't put an early end to his quest for a title with Boston, Porzingis is predicted to be in contention for the Celtics' next playoff games.

The soleus strain is identical injury that has sidelined Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo up to now this postseason, as the previous MVP has been sidelined since April 9.

While Boston should still have the talent to keep up its pursuit of Banner 18 not less than in the subsequent round of the postseason, Porzingis' size, spacing and scoring ability each within the post and beyond the arc might be needed because the postseason lasts until the tip May and June.

“Probably the most important guy on our team for what we're trying to accomplish,” Jayson Tatum told reporters of Porzingis after Boston's Game 3 win at Miami. “I have no doubt that he would have a better game and bounce back, just like he was active on both ends of the floor at the start of the game. When he’s protecting the rim and throwing shots, we’re a whole different team.”
