“Enough,” Katie Holmes declared Sunday in a rare, unprecedented response to a different tabloid report about her, her daughter Suri and Suri's complicated relationship along with her megastar father Tom Cruise.

In an Instragam postobjected Holmes a Daily Mail reportwhich claimed that her 18-year-old daughter Suri had grow to be a millionaire after a trust fund reportedly arrange by her estranged father “intervened”.

“Totally wrong,” Holmes wrote over a screenshot of the article within the British tabloid with the headline “Suri Cruise, the millionaire!” Tom Cruise's trust fund is “started” and mother Katie Holmes has one for her too.”

“Daily Mail, you can stop making things up,” Holmes added.

With her post, Holmes finally, after many years, publicly commented on a gossip or news report about her, her daughter and her famous ex-husband.

<img decoding="async" class=" lazyautosizes lazyload" alt="Tom Cruise with Katie Holmes and her daughter Suri in 2007 after Holmes finished the New York City Marathon in New York. (AP Photo/Kathy Willens, File)

While Holmes clearly denies this particular report about a Cruise trust fund, it appears that the “Dawson's Creek” alum is also fed up with at least some of what the Daily Mail has published about her, Suri, and the “Top Gun.” Star.

Definitely like the Daily Mail to publish regular updates about Holmes and Suri, with the photographers following her and Suri around New York City, where they have lived since Holmes' high-profile divorce from Cruise in 2012. The Daily Mail is also among the gossip and entertainment outlets that followed her in dropping incoming freshman Suri at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in August.

But the Daily Mail is not the only publication that has speculated over the past 12 years about the reasons for Holmes' divorce from the 62-year-old “Mission: Impossible” actor and his long and obvious estrangement from his once-beloved daughter or Holmes ' Raising Suri as a single mother.

The floor plan of Reports Part of their divorce was that Holmes didn't want Suri to join the controversial, cult-like organization, so she left the marriage. Cruise soon faced accusations in another tabloid that he had “abandoned” Suri because of Scientology's rules about separating members from nonbelieving family and friends who are considered “suppressive individuals” and hostile to the organization .

In a 2013 deposition to a $50 million libel lawsuit Cruise filed against the tabloid In Touch, the actor vehemently denied that he had “abandoned” Suri. He disputed claims that he, a prominent member of Scientology, had “endlessly” chosen the church over his daughter.

“'Abandoned by Daddy,'” Cruise said angrily in the statement, referring to the story's headline. “I mean, come on, this is absolutely disgusting. This is absolutely disgusting.”

But more than a decade later, another tabloid, The Sun, reported that Cruise had not seen his daughter in 11 years. However, The Sun also reported that Cruise provided financial support for Suri. Under the terms of the divorce agreement, Holmes was awarded sole custody while Cruise was required to pay $400,000 a year to help raise her.

This Sun report is consistent with other reports about Cruise's estrangement from Suri and was prompted by Cruise missing a major milestone in Suri's life: her graduation from the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City. Instead, Cruise was photographed at one of Taylor Swift's sold-out Eras Tour performances in London this weekend.

Cruise's absence from Suri's graduation made headlines. And then came more headlines about the 18-year-old dropping her father's last name for the ceremony. Instead, she used the name “Suri Noelle.” At the time, sources told Page Six that the new name was a tribute to her mother, who raised her. Noelle is Katie Holmes' middle name.

But as in years past, Holmes remained publicly silent about Cruise's no-show at Suri's graduation ceremony.

But something about the Daily Mail's trust fund story finally sparked a reaction, and people can speculate as to why. Maybe it's the implication that Suri has suddenly become “a wealthy teenager who can do anything she wants.” One person responded to Holmes' Instagram post, saying the claim “puts a goal on her back.”

The Daily Mail report also states that Suri began gaining access to a trust fund set up by Cruise when she turned 18 in April. Additionally, it said Holmes has set up her own trust fund for her only child, quoting a source who said: “She wants him to be well cared for and have a prime quality of life.”

Whatever Holmes' reasons for finally speaking out and hitting back at the Daily Mail, she was flooded with praise and support on her Instagram feed.

“I’m so proud of you for confronting her. I love you to the moon!” wrote actress Zoey Deutch. Actor John McGinty also wrote: “We have your back.”

Another user said: “People must stop saying 'ignore her!' In the comments. @katieholmes has a daughter who doesn't live as a public figure but travels the world, and the Daily Mail just painted a goal on her back. How would you are feeling if that was your child?!”

It wasn't even close.

With a record-breaking performance within the 1,500-meter freestyle on Wednesday, Katie Ledecky won her first gold medal of the 2024 Summer Olympics, tying Jenny Thompson's eight profession gold medals – probably the most ever won by an American woman in an Olympic sport.

For Ledecky, it was the twelfth Olympic medal of her profession, tying her with Thompson, Natalie Coughlin and Dara Torres for probably the most medals won by an American athlete in a profession.

“I am so honored to represent our country,” Ledecky said on the NBC broadcast afterward. “These women who have set the standard for so many years have inspired me. They inspired me when I started swimming. Thank you to them and to everyone who has supported me throughout the years.”

Ledecky led from start to complete, lapping all her competitors and ending ten seconds ahead of France's Anastasiia Kirpichnikova, who took silver.

Ledecky's time of 15:30.02 beat her own Olympic record by five seconds. In the 1,500-meter freestyle, also often called “the mile,” Ledecky holds the 20 fastest times of all time and hasn't lost a race in 14 years.

“I'm proud of the time,” she told NBC. “I really wanted to swim a time that I could be really proud of and happy with.”

Thompson, who swam at Stanford within the Nineteen Nineties, and Coughlin, a standout Cal swimmer within the early 2000s, were each present on the race.

“I can't wait for her to join the 12-medal club,” Coughlin said on the show.

“I'm just in awe of being here and watching Katie swim,” Thompson said. “She's at a level that's way above me in my eyes. It's a dream to be here watching her swim the mile and to be there for her.”

Ledecky is taken into account the favourite for one more gold medal within the 800-meter freestyle, which begins on Friday. She has won the last three gold medals in that event.

With her ninth gold medal, she would tie Larisa Latynina of the USSR for probably the most gold medals ever won by a girl on the Olympic Games.

Ledecky also won a bronze medal within the 400-meter freestyle last week.

During her race on Thursday, NBC chronicled her swimming profession and calculated that she swam greater than 23,000 miles, almost the circumference of the Earth.

The 27-year-old has also spoken about competing within the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Huske at the highest of the Olympic rankings

She was the primary American woman to win a person gold medal on the Paris Olympics, and now Torri Huske is the leading Olympic medalist.

Huske, a third-year student at Stanford who’s taking a 12 months off to give attention to swimming, surprised the swimming world on Thursday when she won a silver medal within the 100-meter freestyle.

It was her third medal on the Games, making her the primary athlete on the 2024 Olympics to win three medals. She also won gold within the 100-meter butterfly and silver within the 4×100-meter freestyle relay.

Thursday's race featured two of the perfect 100-meter freestyle swimmers of all time. Huske competed in a field that also included world record holder Sarah Sjöström of Sweden and Siobhan Bernadette Haughey of Hong Kong, who holds the third fastest time ever recorded within the race.

But it was Huske who held the lead for 90 metres. She had a fantastic jump and a fair higher turn as she pulled away within the last quarter of the race, but her pace dropped in the ultimate 20 metres and Sjöström upped the ante.

Sjöström caught her on the finish line, her outstretched hand touching the wall a split second before Huske, and finished in 52.16 to Huske's 52.29. Haughey finished in 52.33 to take bronze.

The incontrovertible fact that Huske got so close was especially impressive since she was swimming on the skin lane, where it’s harder to avoid the waves that bounce off the side partitions and slow swimmers down.

The 30-year-old Sjöström had not won a gold medal since Rio 2016.

“I didn't think I could win,” she said afterwards on the NBC show. “I've accomplished a lot in my career, but I've never been as surprised as I was here.”

She said she hadn't competed in a 100-meter freestyle race for several years until she began training for it just a few weeks ago.

After the race, she checked out the scoreboard to see the outcomes and appeared shocked. She began to slap the water in disbelief.

“I came here for the 50 meters,” she said on the show. “I did my job. I never thought a 30-year-old could win it. I thought you had to be 20 or something.”

Katie Ledecky gets off to an excellent start in Paris.

Ledecky, who entered the Summer Olympics with six gold medals – one fewer than Jenny Thompson, who has won probably the most gold medals ever as a swimmer, and two fewer than the all-time record for gold medals by an Olympian – began her campaign Saturday morning with a first-place finish in the ladies's 400-meter freestyle preliminary heats.

Ledecky, who was a multiple national champion during her time at Stanford, won her heat with a time of 4:02.19 She narrowly beat her rival Ariarne Titmus of Australia with a time of 4:02.46. Canadian Summer McIntosh, a rising star in the game, finished fourth with a time of 4:02.65.

The final will happen on Saturday afternoon and Ledecky may have her first likelihood at a medal at these Olympic Games.

Over the years, she and Titmus have clashed. While Ledecky holds the Olympic record within the 400-meter freestyle with a time of three:56.46, set on the 2016 Games, Titmus won gold in Tokyo and currently holds the world record with a time of three:55.38.

Stanford junior Torri Huske also got off to start within the pool on Saturday, winning her heat within the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 57.72 seconds to qualify for the semifinals. Her time was the third-best of the 32 competitors.

Gymnastics begins

The U.S. national gymnastics team got off to an excellent start on the Paris Olympics early Saturday morning, despite a disappointing performance from one among its top competitors.

Brody Malone, a multiple national champion at Stanford before graduating last 12 months, delivered an unusually poor performance, starting his competition with a fall on the pommel horse and ending it with a slip on the ground exercise.

<img decoding="async" class=" lazyautosizes lazyload" alt="Brody Malone of Team USA competes on the pommel horse during men's artistic gymnastics qualifications on day one of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games at Bercy Arena on July 27, 2024 in Paris, France.
Malone was the one returning competitor on the boys's team that represented Team USA in Tokyo. He finished third amongst five U.S. athletes that day, eliminating him from all individual events.

Malone had undergone knee surgery that kept him out of motion for much of the 2023 season, but he returned to Olympic qualifying events in June and put in a convincing performance that earned him qualification for Paris. But after a rocky start on Saturday, he may have to prove himself within the team event.

After an overall strong performance, the boys's team is predicted to advance to the team final on Monday morning.

The men finished second out of eight teams of their sub-division, just behind Great Britain. There are three sub-divisions, with the highest eight teams overall advancing to the ultimate.

Asher Hong, a sophomore at Stanford, is one among the boys who did well, because the Texan native finished his division No. 3 on silent rings (14.633), No. 5 on vault (14.566) and No. 6 on floor exercise (14.100). By mid-morning he had been pushed out of the race for vault and floor exercise, but was still within the race for the rings final.

Simone Biles and the ladies's team begin Sunday at 2:30 a.m. PT

Kohler wins rowing heat

Clayton's Kara Kohler made a direct impression in Paris on Saturday morning.

Kohler was bidding to grow to be the primary American woman to win a gold medal in the only sculls. She won her heat with a time of seven:32.46, qualifying for the quarterfinals early Sunday morning. Her time was the third-best among the many 30 competitors.

She got off the road slowly, but overtook Austrian Magdalena Lobnig within the second half of the race and pulled away with a lead of 6.93 seconds.

“It definitely gives me a confidence boost. I wanted to have a solid race to gain some confidence for the future,” Kohler told US Rowing. “It's definitely good to get them out there.
