Barely every week before the NFL Draft, the discussion about quarterback prospects has found its technique to church.

At least that was the case for Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell. Towards the top of 1 “Faith & Leadership: Coaching in the NFL” During his speaking session, which he gave at a church in Minnesota on Thursday, O'Connell was asked by an attendee about Drake Maye and JJ McCarthy.

O'Connell, asked in regards to the teachability of a quarterback's footwork, played along. While he didn't necessarily reveal which quarterback prospect he likes, O'Connell appeared to hint that the Vikings, who hold the No. 11 pick, are hoping to sign a quarterback.

“At the end of the day, if you feel like you're going to find this guy, you have to hope that 31 other teams chip in to make sure they can become a Minnesota Viking,” O'Connell said after sharing his thoughts on whether Certain characteristics could be imparted to a quarterback. “But we just need a team to be complicit. And hopefully we can find that team.”

There has been speculation that the Patriots are the team to assist the Vikings get their quarterback. New England is ranked No. 3 and will potentially sign Maye or McCarthy.

With trade rumors circulating between the Patriots and Vikings for the No. 3 pick, O'Connell could sweeten the pot for New England to simply accept a possible deal. In a follow-up query, the identical fan asked if O'Connell was expanding his reference to the Patriots to assist the team reach third overall.

“Maybe I sent Robert Kraft a nice bouquet of flowers the other day, maybe I didn't,” O'Connell, drafted by the Patriots in 2008, said with amusing.

It doesn't appear like these flowers have convinced the Patriots. They have “not yet received an offer that would excite them” to finish a deal and are “prepared” to remain at No. 3. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Saturday.

Patriots scouting director and de facto general manager Eliot Wolf suggested that was the case when he spoke to reporters on Thursday. He said that while the team was “open to trade,” Wolf answered “no” when asked if a team had offered a “bag.”

Additionally, Wolf appears to be comfortable with picking certainly one of the highest three or 4 quarterback candidates with the No. 3 pick.

“I think we would be happy with that,” Wolf said when asked if the team would feel comfortable choosing certainly one of the highest quarterback prospects.
