<p>We have just one example of the emergence of biology within the universe &#8211; life on Earth. But what if life could form another way? How do you search for alien life for those who don&#39;t know what alien life might seem like? </p>
<p>These questions concern us <a href="https://www.britannica.com/science/astrobiology">Astrobiologists</a>these are scientists who search for all times outside Earth. Astrobiologists have attempted to ascertain universal rules that govern the formation of complex physical and biological systems each on Earth and beyond.</p>

<p>More than 400 nuclear reactors <a href="https://pris.iaea.org/PRIS/home.aspx">in use worldwide</a> currently use nuclear fission technology. Most of those nuclear reactors are in operation <a href="https://thebreakthrough.org/issues/energy/what-is-a-light-water-reactor-what-is-a-small-modular-reactor">Light water reactors</a>. These nuclear fission reactors use water to decelerate the neutrons and absorb and transfer heat. The water can produce steam directly within the core or in a steam generator that drives a turbine to generate electricity.</p>
<p><a href="https://www1.grc.nasa.gov/research-and-engineering/nuclear-thermal-propulsion-systems/">Nuclear thermal propulsion systems</a> work in the same way, but use a distinct nuclear fuel that accommodates more uranium-235. They also work at significantly higher temperatures, which makes them extremely powerful and compact. Nuclear thermal propulsion systems have an influence density around ten times higher than a traditional light water reactor. </p>
<p>Nuclear propulsion could possibly be a step ahead of chemical propulsion <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/373667main_nasa-sp-2009-566-add.pdf?emrc=8b2e96">just a few reasons</a>.</p>
<p>A nuclear engine would eject and produce fuel in a short time from the engine&#39;s nozzle <a href="https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/rockth.html">high thrust</a>. This high thrust allows the rocket to speed up faster.</p>
<p>These systems even have a high specific impulse. <a href="https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/specimp.html">Specific impulse</a> measures how efficiently the fuel is used to generate thrust. Nuclear thermal propulsion systems have about twice the precise impulse as chemical rockets, meaning they may reduce travel time by an element of two. </p>
<h2>History of Nuclear Thermal Propulsion</h2>
<p>For many years, the U.S. government has funded the event of nuclear thermal propulsion technology. Between 1955 and 1973 programs were at <a href="https://ntrs.nasa.gov/citations/19920005899">NASA</a>, <a href="https://doi.org/10.2172/4291952">General Electric</a> And <a href="https://books.google.com/books/about/Nuclear_Rocket_Program.html?id=MjXsngEACAAJ">Argonne National Laboratories</a> produced and tested 20 nuclear thermal propulsion engines.</p>
<p>But these pre-1973 designs relied on highly enriched uranium as fuel. For this reason, this fuel is not any longer used <a href="https://www.britannica.com/topic/nuclear-proliferation">Dangers of proliferation</a>or threats related to the proliferation of nuclear materials and technology.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.energy.gov/sites/prod/files/em/GlobalThreatReductionInitiative.pdf">Global Threat Reduction Initiative</a>launched by the Ministry of Energy and <a href="https://www.energy.gov/nnsa/about-nnsa">National Nuclear Safety Authority</a>goals to convert most of the research reactors that use highly enriched uranium fuel to high sample low enriched uranium fuel (HALEU).</p>
<p>Compared to highly enriched uranium fuel, highly enriched, low enriched uranium fuel accommodates less material that may undergo a fission response. So the rockets need to be loaded with more HALEU fuel, which makes the engine heavier. To solve this problem, researchers are searching for special materials that might use the fuel in these reactors more efficiently. </p>
<p>NASA and the DARPAs <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasa-darpa-will-test-nuclear-engine-for-future-mars-missions">Demonstration rocket for agile cislunar operations</a>The program (DRACO) intends to make use of this low enriched, high content uranium fuel in its nuclear thermal propulsion engine. The program plans to launch its rocket in 2027. </p>
<p>As a part of the DRACO program, aerospace company Lockheed Martin has partnered with BWX Technologies <a href="https://doi.org/10.1080/00295450.2021.1890991">Development of reactor and fuel designs</a>. </p>
<p>The nuclear thermal propulsion engines under development by these groups must meet certain performance and safety standards. You need a core that&#8217;s operational in the course of the mission and might perform the essential maneuvers for a quick journey to Mars. </p>
<p>Ideally, the engine should have the ability to generate high specific impulse while meeting the necessities of high thrust and low engine mass. </p>
<h2>Ongoing research</h2>
<p>Before engineers can design an engine that meets all of those standards, they need to start with models and simulations. These models help researchers like those in my group understand how the engine would handle starting and shutting down. These are processes that require rapid, massive changes in temperature and pressure.</p>
<p>The nuclear thermal propulsion engine shall be different from any existing nuclear fission energy system, so engineers might want to develop software tools that work with this latest engine.</p>
<p>My group <a href="https://doi.org/10.1016/j.nucengdes.2020.110605">Designs and analyses</a> Reactors with thermal nuclear propulsion based on models. We model these complex reactor systems to see how things like temperature changes can affect the reactor and the security of the rocket. However, simulating these effects can require a number of expensive computing power. </p>
<p>We worked on it <a href="https://doi.org/10.1016/j.anucene.2023.110109">develop latest computing tools</a> This model shows how these reactors behave while they&#8217;re in operation <a href="https://doi.org/10.3390/en17133068">Commissioning and operation</a> without using up a lot computing power.</p>
<p>My colleagues and I hope that this research can sooner or later help develop models that might control the rocket autonomously.</p>

But for a lot of healthcare industry veterans and Epic employees, it was business as usual &#8211; an indication that Epic&#39;s annual Users Group Meeting had officially begun. And one theme stood out through the healthcare company&#39;s event on Tuesday: how latest artificial intelligence features will help doctors and patients.</p>
<p>Epic is a healthcare software giant whose technology is utilized in hundreds of U.S. hospitals and clinics. The company manages the medical records of greater than 280 million people within the U.S., although patients&#39; data is usually stored with multiple providers.  </p>
<h3 class="ArticleBody-smallSubtitle">Wizards and animals</h3>

<h3 class="ArticleBody-smallSubtitle">Epic’s Artificial Intelligence Announcements</h3>
<p>Many of Epic&#39;s announcements revolved around how the corporate is integrating artificial intelligence into these products. Faulkner said the corporate is working on greater than 100 AI features, although lots of the tools are still in early development.</p>
<p>For example, by the tip of this 12 months, Epic plans to make use of its generative AI to assist doctors translate responses to messages, letters and directions into language that patients can understand. Doctors can use AI to mechanically queue prescription and lab orders, the corporate said.</p>

<h3 class="ArticleBody-smallSubtitle">The future</h3>
<p>Seth Hain, Epic&#39;s senior vp of research and development, hosted the demo. He spoke to an AI agent via the MyChart app about his recovery from what he claimed was wrist surgery and answered questions on his pain. The agent instructed Hain to activate his camera and bend his wrist backwards so the progress of his healing may very well be assessed. The agent said Hain&#39;s wrist extension was about 60 to 75 degrees, meaning his recovery was faster than planned in comparison with data from similar patients in Epic&#39;s Cosmos database.</p>
<p>Hain asked the agent if he could start playing pickleball again, and the agent told him to &#8220;wait a little longer.&#8221;</p>
<p>In a gathering with reporters after the presentation, Hain said the demo runs in real time without human intervention. However, this feature is so latest that Epic doesn&#39;t also have a name for it yet, and Hain said it should likely be a number of years before it&#39;s widely available.</p>
<p><strong>&#8220;</strong>It&#39;s still very, very, very early days as to whether and how society, the broader medical community, will adopt these kinds of things, but it&#39;s doable,&#8221; he said.</p>

<p><a href="https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jlr.2023.100485">Fatty liver disease related to metabolic disorders or MASLD</a>is a collective term for diseases which can be related to an accumulation of fat within the liver. Previously generally known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, this disease affects <a href="https://doi.org/10.1161/ATV.0000000000000153">1 in 4 people worldwide</a>In individuals with type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, obesity, or all three, the prevalence of MASLD increases to <a href="https://doi.org/10.1002/hep.28431">3 out of 4 people</a>. </p>
<p><a href="https://physicians.umassmemorial.org/details/5227/madona-azar-endocrinology-diabetes-internal_medicine-primary_care-leominster-worcester">As a diabetologist</a>Every time I see a patient, I take into consideration the potential of liver disease. <p>Normally, insulin suppresses glucose production within the liver when blood sugar levels are high. When the liver becomes immune to insulin, <a href="https://doi.org/10.1056/NEJMra1503519">produces more glucose</a> despite elevated blood sugar levels, which in turn contributes to the event of type 2 diabetes. </p>
<p>A 2015 meta-analysis found that individuals with MASLD have <a href="https://doi.org/10.1111/jgh.13264">almost twice as high risk</a> to develop type 2 diabetes than people without the disease. MASLD can also be more likely <a href="https://doi.org/10.2337/dc20-1997">Progress to MASH</a> within the presence of type 2 diabetes.</p>
<p>MASLD disproportionately affects certain ethnic groups. For example, <a href="https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cgh.2017.09.041">1 in 5 people of Hispanic descent within the US</a> have MASLD, with or without diabetes. This is considered related to genetic mutations that affect the way in which liver cells process fat. <a href="https://doi.org/10.1038/ng.257">A selected mutation</a> occurs more continuously in Hispanics, promotes steatosis by impairing the power of cells to interrupt down fat deposits.</p>
<h2>Treatment of MASLD and MASH</h2>
<p>The silver lining is that the treatment of obesity and sort 2 diabetes – for instance, through <a href="https://doi.org/10.2337/dc24-S005">Lifestyle changes</a> – could be very much like treating MASLD. These drugs promote weight reduction, which in turn improves MASLD. In addition, studies have shown that <a href="https://doi.org/10.1056/nejmoa2028395">Ozempic</a> And <a href="https://doi.org/10.1056/NEJMoa2401943">Mounjaro</a> could reverse MASH, even in inflammation and fibrosis.</p>
<p>Older medications for diabetes, <a href="https://doi.org/10.7326/m15-1774">like pioglitazone</a>may also often help slow the progression of MASH by reducing insulin resistance.</p>

<p>Fifteen years ago, Bevirt founded Joby Aviation, a Santa Cruz-based company developing an electrical aircraft that takes off and lands vertically like a helicopter but flies as efficiently as an airplane. The company is constructing a fleet for air taxi services within the Bay Area &#8211; and beyond &#8211; that will be nearly twice as fast as a helicopter but 100 times quieter. The 5-seat aircraft could take to the skies as early as next 12 months, company officials said.</p>

<p>However, the booming electric air taxi industry is giving some transport experts cause for concern.</p>
<p>Adam Cohen, a senior transportation researcher at UC Berkeley and San Jose State University&#39;s Mineta Transportation Institute, said Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) &#8211; an umbrella term for a group of recent and emerging technologies for brand new aircraft types &#8211; could face obstacles.</p>
<p>&#8220;There is a political question of whether travelers should take air taxis to destinations that are already well served by public transit,&#8221; Cohen said. &#8220;And I think the question here is, if we invest in AAM, are we doing so at the expense of other public investments?&#8221;</p>
<p>Eric Allison, chief product officer at Joby, said the air taxi service the corporate plans to supply just isn&#8217;t like traditional air travel. The company has developed an app that matches passengers with available planes and landing slots.</p>

I think you have to prove the feasibility and market demand before you can consider building a new infrastructure network.&#8221;</p>

<p>Experts have identified that Apple has lagged behind in AI competition while rivals like Microsoft have invested billions in AI technology and infrastructure.</p>
