Rivian Automotive in Irvine achieved his first quarterly gross profit in 2024, and scored a protracted goal, even though it warned that the shift in political shifts in Washington weighed its turnover with an electrical vehicle this 12 months.

The EV manufacturer achieved a gross profit within the fourth quarter of $ 170 million and expected a “modest” positive result for the number this 12 months, the corporate said in an announcement. The results of the fourth quarter exceeded the 32 million US dollar expected by Wall Street.

Riviian's shares rose by greater than 3% on Thursday in trade after business time and signal that investors saw signs of progress after the corporate fought problems with the availability chain and high costs that disabled its results last 12 months .

Nevertheless, the corporate expects to sell between 46,000 and 51,000 EVs this 12 months under the analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. The guidelines reflect Rivian's view of the consequences that might result from changes within the tariffs, the EV tax credit and regulatory policy that might weigh sales, said Rivian Chief Executive RJ Scaringe in an interview.

“We observe exactly as well as everyone else, which will happen with tariffs in our supply chain, which will increase the costs and ultimately lead to potential price changes,” he said.

Changes to fuel consumption and pollution regulations could also affect the marketplace for regulatory loans, a lucrative source of income for pure EV manufacturers resembling Rivian and Tesla Inc.

The turnover of those credits rose by $ 260 million within the fourth quarter.

Scaringe announced Bloomberg that credit sales come from programs, including Californian rules, in accordance with which automotive manufacturers must sell more zero emission vehicles yearly, are “quite valuable” for the corporate. Scaringe said he hardly expected any changes to this regulatory system since it doesn’t impose any costs for the federal government.

Everyone desires to report on sports media, but possibly not everyone should do it.

Mike Florio, “Pro Football Talk” aggregator/Insider/Gadfly of the additional class, could be seen every Sunday evening on probably the most watched Pregame show, NBC's “Football Night in America”, but he puts himself a bit of within the league police And the media. Some of what he does could be pretty good.

Others not a lot.

This week Florio praised the podcast “Si Media with Jimmy Traina” NBC in comparison with his competitive broadcaster Fox in relation to Tom Brady, the $ 375 million TV game analysts, which has a ten percent share within the Las Vegas Raiders.

“I've been with NBC for 15 years now,” said Florio. “Under no circumstances would NBC Tom Brady give a microphone if a part of a team belongs. You would never do it. “

Well, except as Dale Earnhardt Jr. Cars in the XFinity series on NBC. Earnhardt won races in the league, just not his own. So far that was the agreement between Fox and Brady.

In addition, NBC has just acquired the rights to the NBA and conducted talks with Dwyane Wade, a minority owner of Utah Jazz, and Grant Hill, who is currently working as a TNT analyst and holds participation in the Atlanta Hawks.

“You would never do it,” said Florio to Traina. “You said: 'Tom, you’ve gotten to decide on a trace.'”

When asked whether this was true, a spokesman for NBC Sports said: “We is not going to comment on hypotheses.”

Florio launched Pro Football Talk almost a quarter of a century ago and is a rather incredible story about how he developed from a lawyer with a hobby to an institution that competes with the top football pages and focuses on a first-class studio show . But when he entered into a partnership with NBC, he started doing business with the broadcaster and his relationships, regardless of how close he was on the side – and he continues than many others.

This has gone the earlier criticism of Pro Football Talk to Mike Trico at Espn since Trico Nbc's franchise player. Florio, the uncompromising all -rounder, failed to have ever posted something about the apology of his team -mate “Football Night in America” Tony Dungy in 2023 after having spoken to the myth that garbage cans would be set up at school for children that identify as cats. There was no cat-first grader post on PFT.

“There is a fundamental difference between a great teammate for a colleague and the possession of a share and a major voice within the leadership of a team that takes place in a league that is roofed,” said Florio about the comparisons between him and Brady.

All of this does not mean that Florios is a general point of view as an inherent conflict of interest with Brady's participation in the Raiders and the accusation against FOX is unfounded. In an ideal world it is one or the other.

In Florios Welt, Fox Brady should have made an ultimatum regarding his $ 375 million contracts to broadcast games or take over the Raiders. Even if you agree to Florio, FOX may not have the right to simply withdraw from the contract.

Florio has built up a lucrative business by rewriting, commenting and reporting NFL messages. He often goes all-in. In this case he shouldn't have done it. You know glass houses, stones and so on.

The son of Audrey Hepburn tried to hit a measured tone when he reacted to violent counter -reactions against Ivanka Trump, who took part in her father's first ball on Monday evening, while he was a duplicate of the famous Givenchy dress within the film “Sabrina” from 1954 .

In an interview With the Daily Mail, Sean Hepburn Ferrer graciously said that he was not surprised that Ivanka Trump desired to pay tribute to his mother. But Ferrer also identified that his mother's views wouldn’t match Trump's draconian politics and hard rhetoric. In fact, the Daily Mail reported that Ferrer “suggested” that his mother, a protracted -time Unicef ambassador who survived the Nazis during World War II, with criticism with the suitable Rev. Mariann Budde, the episcopal bishop of Washington , would agree.

Budde clearly made himself an enemy of Trump and his family after they are afraid during an interreligious inauguration within the Washington National Cathedral on Tuesday during an interreligious inauguration. As the Daily Mail And Washington Post reported.

During Buddes sermon, the President, Ivanka Trump and other members of the Trump family felt visibly uncomfortable, and Tiffany Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and others Seen in front of the camera Exchange offended comments. The bishop asked Trump to assist the fleeing war zones of getting “mercy” about children who “fear that their parents will be taken away” and to have a look at the “gay, lesbian, transgender children in democratic, republican and independent families, of Fear for your life. “

Buddes sermon got here the day after Trump signed an order from the primary executive and announced that the federal government would only recognize “two genders, male and female”. Proponents say that the order would result in a “full deletion” of the transgender rights. Trump can also be within the means of adopting the best deportation of immigrants within the history of US history, without undoubtedly causing Budde to take him into consideration, “the individuals who select our harvests and clean our office buildings who work in poultry farms and meat packaging systems , the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the,, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the , that, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the plants, the plant, which work in vegetable country farms that work in vegetable pensions, those, the plant that work in vegetable pensions , that, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the plant, wash the dishes after we’ve eaten in restaurants, and work within the night shifts in hospitals. “

Trump did not speak on duty, even though he and the Vice President JD Vance exchanged a quick look when Budde mentioned that the way is to honor dignity by refusing to mock or demonize people, how The Daily Mail also reported. Outside the cathedral, Trump mocked the service of the waiting time of news crews as “not too exciting”. And in the early Wednesday he started a tirade against Budde about the truth and called it a “radical, hard line Trump Hasser”, and he called it as a “radical, hard line, Trump -hater”, and he called it as “radicals, Hard line, Trump -hater “, and he called her as a” radical, hard line “, and called her a Trump hater of” radical, left ” The Washington Post said. He said their statements were “inappropriate” and he said that they and their church “owe an apology”.

In his interview with the unadorned T-Trump Daily Mail, Ferrer sounded as if he wanted to avoid saying something about political, since he dealt with Ivanka Trump's election, to hire the black and white Hubert-Givenchy dress. In Ivanka Trump's name, the White House gave a explanation and said that it was “honored” to wear the dress of the Oscar winner, which “has long been a private inspiration”.

With obvious appreciation, Ferrer said that he was not surprised that Ivanka Trump would inspire his mother, an international style icon, that “embodied elegance, which has his roots in her inner beauty and inner spirit”. He said he expected Trump's oldest daughter grew up in a family who knew his mother as a well -known name. Ferrer also noticed that Ivanka Trump had the dress for such an important occasion as an inauguration of the President. . Day. “What a cocktail,” said Ferrer.

Ferrer also mentioned a surprising Trump family with his mother. Trump's second wife, Marla Maples, was a member of the Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund on the advisory board in the early 1990s and they had celebrated their daughter Tiffany Trump with a charity with the title “Breakfast with Tiffany” – a nod on Hepburn's other classic film.

But “if” what Hepburn would keep with them about Trump's Maga policy or Ivanka Trump's alliance. “” Then the Daily Mail also reported that Ferrer pointed out that her “prospects are more in line” to Buddes.

In the middle of the counter -reaction, critics said that Ivanka Trump's decision to wear the dress was “rough” and “insulting” for Hepburn's memory. On Fauxmoi Sub-Reddit One person wrote: “Before Hepburn was a glamorous, famous actress, she was a rebel against the very political movement of Ivanka's father.”

Another wrote: “Yes, everything that Audrey fans said is true. She experienced the devastation of the Nazis first -hand, and she stayed with her for the rest of her life and inspired her work with Unicef. “

Although Hepburn was born and grew up from an aristocratic family in Belgium, England and the Netherlands, he suffered hunger and other deprivations throughout the Second World War after the Germans entered the Netherlands. In their very own way, the up -and -coming ballet dancer reported that fascism and the nazis crew by giving appearances to gather money to support Dutch resistance. According to reports, she also provided an underground newspaper and food to depressed allied pilots who were hiding within the nearby forest.

Hepburn's hatred of fascism and the Nazis were particularly resonance for people on Reddit. Trump spoke to his former chief of staff John Kelly about authoritarian leaders call him “a fascist”. Years before Vance decided to turn into a Trump loyalist, he publicly called his latest boss an “idiot” and “reprehensible” and Privately compared him to Adolf Hitler.

Another person on Reddit quoted Hepburn as once: “Write nothing terrible that you just hear or read in regards to the Nazis. It is worse than you’ll be able to ever imagine. “

“That is why she (Hepburn) is remembered as an icon,” wrote another person. “She wasn't an American, but I can only imagine what she would consider Trump.”

At the explosion of Ivanka Trump, who acted as a high -ranking advisor to the White House in Trump's first administration, another person said: “She is allowed to have a woman who was personally and deeply affected by Nazi Germany Neo Nazis From January sixth … your stupidity and ignorance never surprise me. “

And one other said that Hepburn's fights as a toddler and teenager “were the opposite of Ivanka's silver spoon”.

The Senate Judiciary Committee met on Tuesday for a hearing on the allegations visa–MasterCard The “duopoly” that committee members on either side say has left retailers and other small businesses without the flexibility to barter interchange fees on bank card transactions.

“This is a strange group. The most conservative and liberal members happen to agree that we need to do something about this situation,” said Dick Durbin, committee chairman and Democratic senator from Illinois.

Interchange fees, also generally known as swipe fees, are percentage fees that merchants pay to bank card issuers when customers use bank cards to make retail purchases. visa And MasterCard have a combined market cap of greater than $1 trillion and control 80% of the market.

“In 2023 alone, Visa and Mastercard charged merchants more than $100 billion in credit card fees, primarily in the form of interchange fees,” Durbin told the committee.

Durbin, together with Kansas Republican Sen. Roger Marshall, co-sponsored the bipartisan Credit Card Competition Act, which goals to eliminate market dominance by Visa and Mastercard by requiring banks with greater than $100 billion in assets to have no less than one other payment network to supply their cards, except Visa and Mastercard.

“In this way, small businesses would finally have a real choice: They could route credit card transactions over the Visa or Mastercard network and continue to pay interchange fees, which are often considered the second or largest cost, or they could choose a lower-cost alternative,” Durbin said the committee.

However, Visa and Mastercard are sticking with their swipe fees.

“We think of them as incentives, some might think of them as punishments. But if you can introduce new technologies that reduce risk, remove fraud from the system and streamline processing, then you would be entitled to lower interchange fees,” said Bill Sheedy. Senior advisor to Visa CEO Ryan McInerney. “It is very expensive to issue a product and offer a payment guarantee and online customer service without any liability. All of these things and more, Senator, will be taken into account in the exchange.” [fees].”

The executives also warned about the Credit Card Competition Act, with Sheedy claiming that it would “take control away from consumers over their very own payment decisions, reduce competition, impose technology sharing regulations, and pick winners and losers by favoring certain competitors over others.” “.

“Why do we know this? Because we’ve seen it before,” said Linda Kirkpatrick, president of Mastercard Americas, alluding to the 2010 Durbin Amendment to the Dodd-Frank Act, which required the Fed to cap fees on retailers for transactions on debit cards. “Since the introduction of debit regulation, debit rewards have been eliminated, fees have increased, access to capital has been restricted, and competition has been stifled.”

But current high credit card fees for retailers are leading to higher prices for consumers National Retail Association he told the committee in a letter before the hearing. The Credit Card Competition Act, wrote the retail industry's largest trade association, will bring “fairness and transparency to the payments system and relief for American businesses and consumers.”

“When we think of consumer spending, credit card fees aren't the first thing that comes to mind, but these fees account for a surprisingly large portion of consumer spending,” said Roger Alford, a law professor at Notre Dame University. “Last year, the average American spent $1,100 on swipe fees, more than they spent on pets, coffee or alcohol.”

Visa and Mastercard agreed to a $30 billion settlement in March that would reduce their swipe fees by four basis points for three years. But a federal judge rejected the settlement in June, saying they could afford to pay more.

Visa is also fighting against a Justice Department suit submitted in September. The payments network is accused of maintaining an illegal monopoly over debit card payment networks, which has affected “the price of almost everything,” in response to Attorney General Merrick Garland.

FOXBOROUGH – Bill Belichick clearly has a bone to select with Jerod Mayo and the Patriots shall be fired in January.

And after Mayo opened himself as much as criticism by initially calling the Patriots a “soft” team on Sunday, Belichick took multiple opportunities to denounce New England's recent head coach and defend his former players.

“These guys kind of hurt me because to call them soft – they're not soft, they were the best team in the league against the run last year,” Belichick said on ESPN's “The Pat McAfee” on Monday his former players Show.” “Those guys went on the market and did it regardless that we couldn't rating many points offensively, so I don't know – I feel bad for the defensive players on this game because that's a tricky group.”

Belichick continued his volley against Mayo on Monday night during his appearance on “Let's Go!” Podcast with Jim Gray and Tom Brady.

“I think when you publicly criticize your team like that, it doesn’t always go over well,” Belichick said. “Every coach has their own style and maybe that can be effective at times, but ultimately I always felt that if a team played poorly it was also my responsibility.

“We may have played badly, but we had a bad coach which led to bad play. That's why I think it's always best to take a look at yourself and do what you can do to help the team. And then, you know, when you give constructive criticism as a coach, that’s your job.”

On Wednesday morning, Mayo was asked if he was disappointed that his former coach had repeatedly criticized him.

Perhaps in his most fitting tribute to Belichick, Mayo chose to look forward rather than dwell on the verbal comments leveled against him.

“Like I said, my main focus is the people in this building,” Mayo noted. “Not just the players, but also the coaches and the rest of the staff. As soon as we turn the thing over, everything is fine. It comes down to wins and losses. That’s what matters and that’s what you’ll ultimately be judged on.”

Throughout most of Wednesday's press conference, Mayo did a good job of Belichick's tried-and-tested media maneuvers – shifting discussion of his comments and last week's loss to the Jaguars to the focus of New England's upcoming home game against the Jets.

“The message to these guys – it’s all about the Jets and we’re moving on,” Mayo said. “Obviously there’s a lot of noise out there. And I said: We are what our balance sheet is. We have to get better. That is ultimately my responsibility. And look, I take all the blame. It's okay. It’s moving to the jets.”

Despite Belichick's pointed comments, veteran defensive tackle Davon Godchaux said he didn't get much from Belichick and Mayo's recent quotes about the team.”

“I don’t think Bill means any harm,” Godchaux said via Alex Barth from 98.5 The Sports Hub. “I think people misunderstood it…just like I think people misunderstood Jerod [calling the team soft].”

While a number of the aforementioned “noise” Mayo described following his comments immediately after Sunday's game was self-inflicted, two Patriots wide receivers have also made their coach's job tougher due to social media.

Mayo faced questions Monday about rookie Ja'Lynn Polk's cryptic Instagram post after a disappointing game in London and KJ Osborn's posting of an exchange between him and sports agent Brandon Abdala about his role on the team's depth chart.

Despite those distractions, Mayo emphasized Wednesday that the Patriots are usually not changing their stance on social media use and won’t implore players to stop using it as an outlet in the long run.

“To me, it is what it is,” Mayo said. “For example, when you win games there will be noise. I mean, we've been doing this for a long time. It's very cyclical. Sometimes stories are already written, they just involve a different cast of characters.

“What I would say is that we know that the only people who can go out and win football games are not the media, not your mother calling you and telling you X, Y and Z, or someone in the supermarket. No, it’s about the people who are in this building.”

LOS ANGELES – It looks like few shows have been as successful this 12 months as “Nobody Wants This.” The romantic comedy received near-unanimous praise from critics – one even called it “as funny as Harry and Sally” – and secured the highest spot on Netflix's top 10 TV series list just hours after its debut. (It's also already spawned a whole bunch of thirsty Adam Brody memes on social media.)

But amid the love for Erin Foster's recent series, some within the Jewish community have raised questions on whether or not the show perpetuates problematic stereotypes about Jewish women.

“Nobody Wants This” centers on agnostic podcast host Joanne (Kristen Bell), who falls in love with Noah (Brody), a non secular leader often called the “hot rabbi” in his temple the couple As Joanne finds her way in her recent relationship, she is initially met with contempt from the rabbi's Jewish family. Noah's Russian immigrant parents – especially his mother – are hesitant to embrace her, even after she tells them she is able to convert to Judaism. And Noah's sister-in-law stays so loyal to his Jewish ex that she even yells “whore” at Joanne outside a bar. (By the best way, this ex was so eager to marry Noah that she preemptively found an engagement ring he had hidden and began wearing it before he proposed.)

“I can't imagine a man watching this show and saying, 'I really want to date a Jewish girl!'” wrote Jessica Radloff in Glamour. “We seem like controlling, marriage-hungry women who plan dinner parties and want to alienate anyone who doesn’t share those dreams.”

The series was inspired by Foster real romance: She fell in love with a Jew who desperately desired to marry someone who was also Jewish and converted. It's been nearly five years since Foster accomplished that process — she took a 10-week course on the American Jewish University in West L.A. — but as she walked into the writers' room, she said she intentionally surrounded herself with colleagues who were born as Jews. “I’m Jewish, but I didn’t grow up Jewish. This is something different,” said Foster, 42.

During the press tour leading as much as the premiere of “Nobody Wants This,” questions were raised concerning the show’s portrayal of Judaism. In an interview with The Times – where she was later joined by her husband Simon Tikhman – Foster spoke about her approach to portraying the culture on screen.

Q: What do you concentrate on critics calling a few of the Jewish characters on the show stereotypical?

A: I feel we’d like positive Jewish stories now. I feel it's interesting when you have got a rabbi on the helm, people concentrate on, “Oh, that's a stereotype of the Jewish people.” A hot, cool, young rabbi who smokes weed. That's the alternative of how people see a Jewish rabbi, right? If I made the Jewish parents appear like two granola hippies on a farm, someone would write: “I've never met a Jewish person like that.” You obviously don't know how one can write about Jewish people, you don't know what you do, and that doesn’t represent us well.”

Q: This series is inspired by your relationship along with your husband. Was it difficult so that you can be accepted into his Jewish family?

A: In real life, Simon's parents and I even have a terrific relationship. We at all times did that, and truthfully they never had an issue with me since it was a terrific honor for them to convert to Judaism. Bringing someone to the Jewish faith was the last word daughter-in-law move; It brought us together in such a terrific way.

But in a television show there needs to be conflict. It is very important that Noah's parents are immigrants within the series since the culture of immigrants may be very different from the culture of American Jews. Simon's parents fled the Soviet Union because they were Jews. That's a really different experience than someone who grew up in LA and wasn't exposed to the sort of anti-Semitism that he was exposed to. It means something different. It's a rather more sensitive topic and it's much closer to home.

That's why I don't have the sensation that the parents have so many stereotypical ideas. Immigrant culture will be very insular and scared of outsiders, and there’s a very good reason for this. I wanted to deal with this since it represents an extra layer of cultural differences between these two people.

Q: Was it necessary to you that the actor playing Noah actually be Jewish?

A: I assumed it was really necessary. We literally auditioned every Jewish actor on the face of the earth.

I feel it's okay to speak openly about it and make it clear that you simply're on the lookout for a Jewish actor to play a rabbi. And the reality is, nobody felt right – not even close [but Brody].

And I feel it's ridiculous to think that an actor needs to be all the pieces he plays. I imagine that a gay man can play a straight man. A straight person can play a gay person. But I felt that somebody who isn't Jewish would feel improper playing a rabbi within the lead role in a show that shines a positive light on Jewish culture. That didn't suit me.

Q: What do you concentrate on “Nobody Wants This” coming out amid a heightened climate of anti-Semitism?

A: We're definitely not the show that deals with the political climate of what's happening on this planet immediately. That's not why people come to our show to observe it, and it wouldn't be appropriate for me to deal with that topic because I wasn't raised Jewish. I even have my very own opinion about it as an individual, but it surely shouldn't be a part of the show. I don't think it's okay to talk for therefore many individuals. What I actually desired to do was to shine a positive light on Jewish culture from my perspective – my positive experiences that I dropped at Jewish culture, with a little bit little bit of fun, [and] teachable moments about things in Judaism that I like without being heavy-handed. Because I don't think people want that on the show.

Q: How has your relationship with Judaism modified since your conversion?

A: I remember this panicked feeling as I left the mikvah [a ritual bath that occurs at the end of the conversion process]. I assumed, “I don't feel Jewish yet.” I used to be dunked under a hot tub and thought something magical was going to occur, like “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!”

But I didn't feel anything and I used to be very scared. “Am I really Jewish? I don’t feel any different.”

Now, five years later, I understand that you simply don't feel Jewish until you've been Jewish. When I see anti-Semitism, I feel I'm Jewish. I feel more Jewish since converting because I've had quite a bit more experiences than simply learning about it in a classroom and learning the date and meaning of a vacation. In 2024, given what is occurring on this planet, I feel Jewish.

Per week after President Barack Obama’s re-election in November 2012, JD Vance, then a law student at Yale, said wrote a devastating rebuke the Republican Party’s attitude towards immigrants and minorities, criticising it for its “open hostility towards non-whites” and for the alienation of “blacks, Latinos, [and] the youth.”

Four years later, as Vance considered a career in GOP politics, he asked a former college professor to take down the article. That professor, Brad Nelson, had taught Vance at Ohio State University when he was an undergraduate. After graduating, Nelson asked him to contribute to a blog he ran for the nonpartisan Center for World Conflict and Peace.

Nelson told CNN that he agreed to delete the article at Vance's request during the 2016 Republican primary so that Vance could more easily get a job in Republican politics. However, the article, titled “A Blueprint for the GOP,” remains available on the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine.

“A key part of Republican immigration policy revolves around the ability to deport 12 million people (or deport themselves),” Vance wrote. “Think about it: We conservatives (rightly) distrust the government when it comes to efficiently managing corporate loans and regulating our food supply, and yet we supposedly believe it can deport millions of undocumented aliens. That notion is simply ridiculous. The same is true of too many parts of the party platform.”

Twelve years later, as former President Donald Trump’s vice presidential candidate, Vance espouses many of the same anti-immigration sentiments he criticized as a 28-year-old law student in 2012. In recent days, Vance has increased without reason Claims against Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio.

But asked on Sunday Regarding his previous criticism of Trump's stance on immigration, Vance argued that Trump's rhetoric on immigration was actually the reason he turned from a Trump critic to a Trump supporter.

“The reason I changed my mind about Donald Trump is made clear by what happened in Springfield,” Vance said. “The media and the Kamala Harris campaign have been calling the people of Springfield racists and lying about them. They've said they made up these reports about migrants eating geese, and they're completely ignoring the health catastrophe that's unfolding in Springfield right now. You know who hasn't ignored that? Donald Trump.”

Will Martin, a spokesman for Vance, told CNN that Vance has long supported tough border security measures, including deportations, and now has one of the most conservative voting records in the Senate. He said his views on deportations have changed since the time of the blog post.

“There is nothing strange about the fact that Senator Vance's views on certain issues have changed since his twenties, like those of millions of Americans,” Martin said in an email to CNN.

Vance’s previous anti-Trump rhetoric is well known, as he was a vocal critic the former president during much of Trump's first year in office. And although Vance defended many of his supporters, he wrote on Facebook in 2016: “There are undoubtedly vile racists at the core of Trump's movement.”

Nelson, who was very positive about Vance in messages to CNN and called him one of his brightest students, said Vance's post “caused some excitement among some campaign teams that Vance had considered working for.”

“I was a little surprised at the backlash he apparently received from the GOP, as I thought his post was pretty innocuous,” Nelson told CNN. “Anyway, I liked JD and wanted to help him, so I deleted his post.”

“He gave no indication that his opinion on the issues he wrote about in his post had changed,” Nelson added in messages to CNN.

CNN found the article about X where he was mentioned from the think tank in 2012.

Two more blog posts Vance wrote for the site, are still active, but CNN noted that the “Blueprint” article has been removed from the site. The Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, where the post was stored, shows that it was published sometime between March 2014 and February 2016.

“Only attractive to white people”

Vance began his article with a scathing critique of Republican strategies and candidates, which he blamed for the party's failures within the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections.

“When the 2008 election was called for Obama, I assumed: Maybe my party can learn some very vital lessons from this,” Vance wrote. “You can't nominate people like Sarah Palin who alienate swing voters. You can't actively alienate every growing block of the American electorate – blacks, Latinos, youth – and you possibly can't rely solely on the one shrinking block of the electorate – whites. And yet, 4 years later, I’m forced to reassess a few party that nominated the worst people like Richard Mourdock and tried to win an election by appealing only to whites.”

In the article, which Nelson asked to be removed, Vance argued that the Republican Party would be in trouble if it did not adapt to the country's changing demographics. He criticized the GOP's adherence to supply-side politics, comparing it to support for outdated policies such as Soviet containment. He said that during the Bush years, this approach to the economy led to stagnant wages and concentrated growth, alienating minority voters who found Democratic policies more relevant and appealing.

“Republicans are losing minority voters for easy and obvious reasons: their policy proposals are trite, unoriginal, or openly hostile to non-whites,” Vance wrote.

NEW YORK (AP) — The director of the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025, whose vision calls for an entire overhaul of the federal government, has resigned, a spokesman for the think tank confirmed Tuesday.

Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, said in an announcement that the group is sticking to its original timeline and that Paul Dans' departure comes after the project “accomplished exactly what it set out to do: bring together over 110 leading conservative organizations to create a unified conservative vision motivated to cede power from the unelected administrative state and return it to the people. This tool was created for any future administration.”

But the news got here after former President Donald Trump increasingly distanced himself from and criticized Project 2025, resulting in speculation that his campaign had forced the exit.

“President Trump's campaign has been very clear for over a year that Project 2025 has nothing to do with the campaign, does not speak for the campaign, and should not be associated with the campaign or the President in any way,” Trump campaign advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita said in an announcement. “Reports of Project 2025 ending would be very welcome and should serve as a warning to anyone or any group seeking to misrepresent their influence on President Trump and his campaign – this will not end well for you.”

Many Trump allies and former top aides have contributed to the project, which calls for mass layoffs of presidency staff and sweeping changes to American life. Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign and leading Democrats have repeatedly linked Trump to Project 2025 as they argue against a second Trump term.

— The ex-wife of Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff on Wednesday defended Vice President Kamala Harris against sexist criticism of her lack of biological children, calling the criticism “unfounded” and expressing her gratitude for the likely Democratic nominee.

“These are baseless attacks. For over 10 years, since Cole and Ella were teenagers, Kamala has been the co-mom of Doug and me,” Kerstin Emhoff said in a press release first provided to CNN. “She is loving, caring, fiercely protective and always there. I love our blended family and am grateful to have her as part of it.”

RELATED: JD Vance recalled Taylor Swift's power as a 'childless cat lady'

Emhoff's statement follows a resurfaced video of Republican vice presidential candidate Senator JD Vance criticizing several public figures, including Harris, Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, as “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are unhappy with their own lives.”

“It's just a basic fact – look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC – the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children,” Vance Tucker Carlson said in a July 2021 interview.

Kerstin Emhoff, a movie producer, has two children with Doug Emhoff. The vice chairman has said her stepchildren call her “Momala.”

Spokespeople for Vance didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment on his 2021 statement. Vance is the daddy of three children.

Buttigieg, who was criticized together with Harris in Vance's 2021 interview, told CNN's Kaitlan Collins that the remarks got here at a time when he and his husband Chasten “had suffered a pretty heartbreaking setback in our journey to adoption.”

“He couldn't have known that,” Buttigieg said, “but maybe that's why you shouldn't talk about other people's children.” (The Buttigiegs had twins in late 2021.)

Harris and Doug Emhoff married in 2014.

“The thing about blended families,” Harris told CNN in 2020, “is that it works when everyone approaches it in such a way that there is a lot of love to share.”

In a Essay from 2019 in ElleHarris talked about how she has formed an in depth friendship with Kerstin Emhoff and has a blended family. “Kerstin and I have gotten along well and are good friends,” Harris said. “…We sometimes joke that our modern family is almost a little too functional.”

Harry Kane responded to Gary Lineker's criticism of England's Euro 2024 campaign by saying that former internationals have a “responsibility” to reflect on the impact of their words.

England got here under scrutiny after a 1-1 draw with Denmark of their second group match at Euro 2024, with former striker Lineker branding the performance “shit”.

Kane said while he understood that pundits had an obligation to be honest, he added that former players should pay attention to the challenges involved in representing England given the country's historic and ongoing failures at major tournaments.

Asked specifically about Lineker's comments, Kane replied: “Former players have to be aware that it is very difficult not to listen to it these days, especially for some players who are not used to it or who are new to the environment.”

“I always feel they have a responsibility. I know they have to be honest and give their opinion, but they also have a responsibility as a former England player who many players looked up to. People are interested in what they say and people listen to them.

“Everyone has their very own opinion but the underside line is that we haven't won anything as a nation for a really, very very long time and a number of these players were involved in that too, in order that they know the way tough it’s.

“It's not about eliminating anyone. It's just the fact that they know it's tough to play in these big tournaments and tough to play for England.”

“I would never disrespect a player. I would just say: remember what it's like to wear that jersey and that his words are listened to. They are heard.

“We all need to win a giant tournament. If we help them as much as we will and provides them confidence, that's a significantly better way.”

Lineker, 63, scored 48 goals in 80 appearances for England between 1984 and 1992. He won the Golden Boot at the 1986 World Cup and was part of the England team that reached the semi-finals of the 1990 European Championships in Italy.

After England’s draw with Denmark, Lineker told the Rest is football podcast: “I believe we want to reflect the mood of the nation. I can't imagine that anyone who’s English would have enjoyed that performance since it was lethargic, it was grim. You can think up all kinds of words and swear words if you happen to want, but it surely was shit.”

Kane scored his first goal of the European Championship against Denmark, but admitted that he had been out of form personally in the first two games.

“I attempt to steer clear of it (watching and reading media criticism) as much as possible,” he added. “I believe it's almost unattainable lately with all the several platforms to not see some things.”

“As a player, everyone has the correct to their very own opinion and I do know that in big tournaments all the pieces gets more exciting and performance is scrutinised. If I'm honest with myself… did I do my best? No.

“But I didn't score a goal in the group stage of the World Cup or the group stage of the European Championship. So from my point of view, being one goal ahead is a bonus. I always judge myself first and I know I can play better and I know a lot of players in the team think that too – that we can all play a little bit better. That's what I do. I don't panic. I don't get too elated or too depressed. I keep doing what I'm doing and just move on to the next game.”

Kane was substituted within the second half of England's draw with Denmark after missing the tip of Germany's season with a back injury.

Although there have been concerns concerning the 30-year-old's fitness, he stressed that he felt fresh and had no injury worries.

“I think the preparation for the tournament was good for me personally,” said Kane. “Even in the matches of the tournament, in the first game, I felt as fit as I have all season. Of course I know that I was substituted in the second game, but that was because the coach wanted to see something different, maybe especially to freshen up the strikers.”

“In my opinion, I am fit and I am getting better and fitter with every game. I have said the same thing in previous tournaments, that you have to try to be at your best when the most important part of the tournament comes, the knockout round.

“As at all times, time will tell. If we’re eliminated, there might be a number of questions, but from my standpoint, I believe that going into that knockout round, you’re feeling 100% comfortable (that's necessary) and I believe I'm there.”

Gareth Southgate's side are preparing for their final Group C game against Slovenia on Tuesday, currently leading the table with four points.

After the draw with Denmark, Southgate said England were not physically at the “right” side to apply pressure high up the pitch.

Kane said England's pressing problems stemmed from playing against a back three against Serbia and Denmark. Slovenia played with a back four in their first two group matches and the England captain said he hoped his side could be more forceful.

“I believe each games against the three-man defense left us a bit confused on the pitch,” he said. “We had prepared before the sport. But then there have been just certain things where we couldn't quite construct up the pressure that we desired to and we weren't 100% sure when to go and that's difficult.”

“I don't think we were good with the ball, which made it feel like we were just running and continuously running. So it was difficult to reverse that momentum. I believe in the subsequent game it’ll be a special threat due to lineup… it’ll probably be different than in Slovenia. Hopefully we will show a bit more energy and enthusiasm, especially without the ball, and I believe that may help us with the ball as well.”

What we learned from Kane's expressive performance

Harry Kane entered the English media room at Blankenhain Castle, won a darts match, sat down, answered questions, took a sip of water and then left the room.

But the part in between, in which the English captain spent 40 minutes clarifying things from the camp's point of view, was unusually revealing.

It was decided on Sunday morning that Kane would be the player to speak at the public press conference. This is part of a wider strategy by the Football Association regarding which voices are heard and at what time, and Kane is more than happy to take on that responsibility.

analyzed what he said and what it meant

England's critics

“The bottom line is that we haven't won anything as a nation for a really, very very long time and a number of these players have been involved in that. They know the way tough it’s,” Kane said in reference to Lineker's dig.

Lineker was not the only pundit to criticise England's performance against Denmark, but as the face of Britain's national broadcaster's football coverage, his words carry more weight than most.

Although Kane remained respectful and raised several reservations, he clearly wanted to stand up for the team after the negative reaction to them.

His own fitness

“I felt fitter than I actually have all season. I do know I used to be substituted within the second game, but that was since the coach desired to see something different and clean up the strikers. It's necessary to enter this knockout round feeling 100% and I believe I'm there.”

Kane was quick to dismiss the notion that he was not fully fit, having missed Bayern Munich's final game of the season due to a back injury.

He looked underwhelmed in England's first two games at Euro 2024, but tried to reassure his fans by telling them not to worry about his fitness.

Tactical problems within the opening games

“I just think playing against the back three in both games caused us a little bit of confusion on the pitch. We had prepared before the game. But then there were just certain things where we couldn't quite build the pressure that we wanted to and we weren't 100 percent sure when to go and that's difficult.”

After the Denmark game, Kane said the players didn't know when to use pressure. It was a devastating revelation. And now he has provided that assessment a bit more context, mentioning that playing against a back three disrupted attacking triggers. Playing against Slovenia's likely back 4 should alleviate that problem.

keep Calm and carry on

“I think we are calm. Many of us have been here and done it and we have given the English fans some fantastic moments. I know that 99 percent (of the fans) are fully behind us. You can judge us after the tournament.”

The word “calm” was utilized by Kane 3 times during his press conferences and in as many answers.

The message from England's training camp after the Denmark game is that the team remain relaxed – or at the very least attempt to – despite the dismal performances. Kane reiterated that message on Sunday, urging fans to order their final judgement until the tip of the Three Lions tournament.
