Like many others, Elon Musk's estranged daughter was “disgusted” by her father's “abhorrent” offer – or “threat” – to impregnate Taylor Swift. The pop star had angered him and other Donald Trump supporters by endorsing Kamala Harris after Trump's poor performance on the presidential debate on Tuesday night.

Vivian Jenna Wilson's outrage got here after the Tesla CEO posted his “creepy” X-message to Swift, who had described herself as a “childless cat lady” in her Harris ad.

WASHINGTON, DC – JULY 24: Tesla CEO Elon Musk (center) listens as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses a joint session of Congress within the House Chamber on the U.S. Capitol on July 24, 2024 in Washington, DC.
“Okay, Taylor… you win… I will give you a child and protect your cats with my life,” Musk wrote on his X Platform, possibly to be clever, but in his usual, “painfully unfunny” way, as New York Magazine said.

On Threads, Wilson first praised Harris for the “destruction” of Trump in the controversy. Then she applauded Swift for “the timing” her support of the previous San Francisco district attorney's campaign to change into America's first female president – just minutes after Harris and Trump left the controversy stage in Philadelphia. “Can't wait to see the Swifties at the polls! Vote blue,” Wilson said, punctuating her post with two blue heart emojis.

Wilson then he confirmed “the tweet”, which each New York Magazine and Rolling Stone said may very well be interpreted as a threat. The “tweet” was her father's response to Swift's support and his “sexist” interpretation of her self-proclaimed status as a “childless cat lady.” The infamous “childless cat lady” moniker comes from Trump's running mate JD Vance and his past statements that demeaned women, cat owners, and childless couples.

“And yes, I saw 'the tweet,'” Wilson said on Threads. “Vile incel nonsense is indeed vile incel nonsense. I really have nothing to add to it, it's just vile. That much is obvious, and if you don't understand how, then you're part of the problem. I just want to say to my listeners, don't let people talk to you like that. It's disgusting, condescending, and incredibly sexist. You deserve better.”

Wilson's response to her father's post is little question shaped by her own difficult experience as certainly one of 12 children he fathered with three different women. The 20-year-old, who’s transgender, has accused Musk of being an absent father and a “serial adulterer” who treated her cruelly for being too “feminine.”

Wilson's concerns were confirmed by an evaluation of Musk's statement about wanting to impregnate Swift in New York Magazine. With his specific statement, “I'm going to give you a child,” New York Magazine said, “there's a lot going on.”

As Wilson suggested, Musk is basically sexually harassing Swift on X for expressing a political opinion. New York Magazine identified that the billionaire has been accused of sexual misconduct before – which he denies. But Musk's remark also is available in the context of “other strange and disturbing things” the billionaire has said and done, based on New York Magazine.

Musk is obsessive about low birth rates, New York Magazine explained. This obsession has led him to consider that he’s an excellent father figure and a worldwide visionary who should populate the earth with as a lot of his offspring as possible. It has also led him to spread the “theory of the great replacement,” New York Magazine added. This is a White supremacist conspiracy Theory that states that national immigration policies which can be welcoming to non-white immigrants are a conspiracy to undermine or “replace” the political power and culture of whites living in Western countries.

New York Magazine argued that Musk's response to Swift actually had a racist aspect. On the one hand, his statement that he was offering to “protect your cats with my life” may very well be interpreted as Musk joking that he’s the massive, strong man who will protect her and her beloved pets. But the statement also touches on the concept that he’ll protect her cats “from migrants who try to eat them,” based on New York Magazine.

His statement echoes the recent racist, right-wing conspiracy theory about Haitian immigrants, first floated by Vance and amplified by Trump throughout the debate when the previous president said, “They eat the dogs, the people who came here, they eat the cats.” That theory holds that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, are kidnapping and eating pets.

On Sunday, Musk did his part to spread the conspiracy theory by sharing an X-contribution by conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who also said that Springfield residents are losing their pets to hungry Haitians – “another gift from Biden and Harris’ mass immigration replacement plan.”

musk wrote, “Apparently people’s pet cats are being eaten.”

While Musk continued to insist on the conspiracy theory, Swift actually “won” the post-debate news cycle in several ways – as Musk admitted and maybe feared.

The “Fortnight” singer cleaned up on the MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday night, winning seven awards, including the highest prize for Video of the Year, making her the solo artist with probably the most VMA wins of her profession and the artist with probably the most video wins of the yr.

Swift concluded her speech for the award for Video of the Year by asking fans to vote within the November 5 presidential election, a follow-up to her Harris endorsement, where she also urged people to register to vote in the event that they had not already done so. The link to Vote.org that Harris provided along with her endorsement attracted greater than 330,000 visitors to the federal government website within the roughly 12 hours after she posted her message on Instagram.

President Joe Biden delivered remarks Saturday night after former President Donald Trump was injured and rushed off the stage when shots rang out at his political rally.

“There is no place for this kind of violence in America,” Biden said in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

“It's sick,” Biden said. “It's sick.”

“That's one of the reasons we have to unite this country,” the president said. “We can't allow this to happen. We can't be like this. We can't tolerate this.”

Biden said he hoped to talk to Trump shortly, adding: “He appears to be doing well.”

Political violence is “simply outrageous, it is simply inappropriate, and everyone, everyone must condemn it,” he said.

When asked if he believed the shooting was an assassination attempt on Trump, Biden said he had “an opinion” but wanted to collect more facts before making further comments.

The US Secret Service stated that “the former president is safe” and that an investigation into the alleged shooting is ongoing.

In a written statement early Saturday evening, Biden, who’s running against Trump within the re-election campaign, said he was glad to listen to that Trump was “safe and well.”

“I am praying for him and his family and everyone who attended the rally as we await more information,” Biden said within the statement.

The statement and Biden's remarks followed a wave of support for Trump from his political allies and opponents, who strongly condemned political violence in any form.

Both of Trump's predecessors, Barack Obama and George W. Bush, had already expressed their relief that Trump didn’t look like seriously injured.

“There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy,” Obama said in a press release on X. “While we do not yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump was not seriously injured and use this moment to recommit ourselves to decency and respect in our politics.”

Bush said he and former first lady Laura Bush were grateful that President Trump was secure after the cowardly attempt on his life.

Former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who was shot in the pinnacle in a 2011 assassination attempt and has since campaigned for gun control, wrote: “Political violence is terrifying. I know.”

“I hold former President Trump and all those affected by today's inexcusable act of violence in my heart. Political violence is un-American and never acceptable – ever,” Giffords wrote.

“Violence like this has no place in our country. We must all condemn this heinous act and do our part to ensure it does not lead to further violence,” Harris said.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, a vocal critic of Biden who reportedly recently donated to a pro-Trump super PACwrote on X inside an hour of the shooting: “I fully support President Trump and hope for his speedy recovery.”

In NATO's harshest criticism of China yet, the military coalition called Beijing a “crucial supporter” of Russia in the continuing war in Ukraine and expressed concern concerning the country's nuclear arsenal and “systemic challenges” to the coalition's security.

“The People's Republic of China has become a key supporter of Russia's war against Ukraine through its so-called 'No Limits' partnership and its large-scale support of the Russian defense industry.” A NATO communiqué said on Wednesdayon the second day of a summit in Washington to have fun the seventy fifth anniversary of theth Anniversary.

The coalition also called on Beijing to “cease all material and political support for the Russian war effort.” Specifically, it mentioned the transfer of “dual-use materials such as weapons components, equipment and raw materials that serve as inputs to the Russian defense sector.” This is NATO's first explicit accusation that Xi Jinping's government is providing military assistance to Moscow.

“It is the first time that NATO allies have expressed this so clearly in an agreed document,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in a speech on Wednesday. “This cannot continue without China's interests and reputation suffering as a result.”

NATO's support for non-member Ukraine has been deeply rooted because the starting of the Russian invasion, as Moscow is viewed by many as a possible threat to Europe's overall security.

Beijing has previously repeatedly denied supplying weapons to Russia within the war in Ukraine. But the 2 countries have maintained close trade ties throughout the conflict, at the same time as Moscow finds itself increasingly disconnected from the West and even subject to sanctions. A CNBC evaluation last yr found that Moscow was sourcing semiconductors and other advanced Western technologies on the time through intermediaries, including China.

Earlier this week, Beijing began joint military exercises with Russia's close ally Belarus at a training ground just a number of kilometers from the Polish border, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said in a Google translation. Telegram postThe territory of Belarus previously served as a launching pad for the Russian invasion of neighboring Ukraine.

On the primary anniversary of the Ukraine war in February 2023, China – which a month later successfully used the goodwill it acquired as a trading partner to broker a reconciliation between arch-enemies Iran and Saudi Arabia – proposed a peace framework for the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv. This, like Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's peace plan and Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin's recent conditions for starting diplomatic negotiations, has up to now found no traction.

Earlier this week, China was the third stop on the world tour of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, a key ally of Putin, who presented his self-proclaimed “peace mission” to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. After visiting Ukraine and Russia, Orban met with Xi in Beijing and praised China as “Key performance” to end hostilities.

After years of velvet-hand diplomacy and viewing China as a distant problem, NATO said on Wednesday that Beijing “continues to pose a systemic challenge to Euro-Atlantic security,” underscoring alleged disinformation emanating from the world's second-largest economy and its activities in outer space and cyberspace.

Back in March, NATO members the United States and Great Britain accused China of a years-long cyberespionage campaign against politicians, companies and journalists. The practices revealed “China's ongoing and brazen efforts to undermine our country's cybersecurity and target Americans and our innovation,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray. said then.

In response, the Chinese embassy in the UK condemned Britain's “malicious action”. “The UK's claim that China is responsible for malicious cyber campaigns against Britain is completely unfounded and constitutes a malicious slander,” it said at the time.

NATO also raised the alarm about China’s alleged nuclear ambitions.

“The People's Republic of China continues to rapidly expand and diversify its nuclear arsenal with more warheads and a greater number of sophisticated delivery systems. We call on the People's Republic of China to engage in discussions on strategic risk reduction and promote stability through transparency,” said the NATO statement, warning that allies should simultaneously raise their “shared awareness” and step up their preparations to protect against China's “coercive tactics and efforts to divide the Alliance.”

“China is building up its nuclear arsenal faster than any other country,” said Hans Kristensen, associate senior fellow on the Stockholm International Peach Research Institute. back in Junewhen the institute released its annual publication analyzing the world's nuclear powers.

“China's nuclear weapons stockpile is anticipated to proceed to grow over the subsequent decade, and the variety of Chinese intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) is more likely to match and even surpass the variety of Russian or American nuclear weapons,” SPRI noted last month.

NATO's comments to China come after the leaders of several Indo-Pacific countries – including Australia, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea – attended the NATO summit in Washington, according to Reuters, continuing a practice that began after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

WASHINGTON: President Joe Biden took on his recently convicted opponent on Friday, saying a New York jury's guilty verdict against former President Donald Trump have to be respected and condemning attempts to undermine the justice system as “reckless,” “dangerous” and “irresponsible.”

Biden broke his long silence on Trump's legal troubles, directly and unequivocally calling the presumptive Republican nominee a lawbreaker whose conviction could be a victory for the rule of law. And he rejected claims that the prosecution was a political witch hunt, noting that it was not a case brought by his own administration.

“The American principle that no one is above the law has been reaffirmed,” Biden said in a swiftly arranged televised address from the White House before outlining his recent efforts to finish the war in Gaza. “Donald Trump was given every opportunity to defend himself. It was a state case, not a federal case. And it was tried by a jury of 12 citizens, 12 Americans, 12 people like you, like millions of Americans who have served on juries.”

“This jury,” he continued, “was selected in the same way that every other jury in America is selected. There is a process that involved Donald Trump's lawyer. The jury heard evidence for five weeks, for five weeks. And after careful deliberation, the jury reached a unanimous verdict. They found Donald Trump guilty on all 34 counts.”

While he can have taken pleasure in noting that his opponent on this fall's election was found guilty on all counts, Biden made no mention of the crux of the case, during which Trump was convicted of falsifying business records to cover up hush money payments to a porn star who claimed to have had an affair with him.

Instead, Biden focused on the orchestrated efforts of the previous president and his allies to discredit the indictment and the jury's verdict by portraying the trial as a political persecution during which Trump was allegedly treated unfairly.

“It's reckless, it's dangerous, it's irresponsible for someone to claim the trial was rigged just because they don't like the verdict,” Biden said. “Our justice system has stood the test of time for nearly 250 years and is literally the cornerstone of America. Our justice system, the legal system, should be respected, and we should never allow anyone to destroy it. It's as simple as that. That's America. That's who we are.”

The president's decision to talk on to the consequence of the case was a serious strategic shift. Since Trump was charged last 12 months in the primary of 4 indictments by state and federal prosecutors, Biden has staunchly refused to debate the matter, hoping to remain out of the fray and never reinforce the previous president's false claims that the White House was directing the prosecutions.

As recently as Thursday evening, a Biden adviser, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity while describing internal deliberations, said the president was not expected to make a proper, scripted statement on the ruling on television. The adviser added that it was possible the president could reply to reporters' questions on it.

But based on one other Biden adviser, a series of conversations that lasted through Thursday evening and Friday morning eventually concluded that it was time for the president to talk out. Biden's team crafted comments that were more in defense of the justice system than addressing the specifics of the case against Trump.

“As president, it was important to acknowledge the moment and its significance, but not to dwell on it,” said David Axelrod, who served as Biden's vp and was a senior adviser to President Barack Obama. “That's what he did.”

Still, Jennifer Palmieri, a former communications director for Hillary Clinton, warned that Biden's words wouldn’t persuade his opponent's supporters, who’re already unmoved by 4 criminal charges, including misusing classified documents and illegally attempting to overturn the 2020 election he lost.

“A Trump supporter who is outraged by the verdict is not going to be pacified by any Democratic or Republican president who does not support Donald Trump,” she said. “Even if Biden were not his political opponent, if you are so outraged by the verdict that you are willing to take to the streets, a Democratic president is not going to reach you. That is the sad reality of being president today.”

Trump has tried to get Biden to get entangled within the New York case and the opposite charges by falsely accusing the president of orchestrating them. While Biden appointed the attorney general who oversaw the 2 federal cases against Trump, there isn’t any known evidence that the president or his White House played any role in them. And the New York case, just like the Georgia election tampering case, was brought by a neighborhood prosecutor who shouldn’t be accountable to the president.

Of course, that didn't stop Trump from claiming the other shortly after his conviction on Thursday night. “The Biden administration did this to hurt or harm an opponent, a political opponent,” he said outside the courthouse. His allies immediately reiterated that claim. On Fox News, moderators and guests spoke of the “evil forces” and “evil people” persecuting Trump and blamed the costs on Biden, “who is now the villain.”

The concept that the Justice Department is merely a political weapon definitely surprises Biden, because the same department is putting his own son, Hunter, on trial for gun violations on Monday.

Biden and his team have shown more willingness in recent weeks to handle Trump's criminal justice problems, even without directly attacking them. The president mocked his predecessor for falling asleep through the trial (“Sleepy Don”) and sent actor Robert De Niro to the courthouse to carry a heated press conference attacking Trump (“guilty and we all know it”).

And they, like Trump, sought to capitalize on Thursday's verdict by launching a series of fundraising appeals. “Although a jury found Donald Trump guilty today, there is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: at the ballot box,” Biden said in a fundraising email just hours after the jury announced its verdict, adding, “Donald Trump's supporters are excited and will likely set fundraising records for his campaign.”

Still, the Biden team didn’t anticipate that the ruling would alter the election campaign, which polls show is amazingly close, especially within the crucial swing states needed to win the Electoral College. Instead, advisers said Biden would proceed to construct his arguments to voters on issues corresponding to the economy, abortion rights and democracy.

One adviser said he didn’t expect the campaign to run ads specializing in Trump's status as a felon, nor did he think Biden would try to drag out of the June 27 debate on the grounds that he mustn’t be on stage with a criminal, as some Democrats have demanded. It says something about today's politics that taking up a felon shouldn’t be seen as a winning strategy.

When asked by a reporter at a later event Friday whether the other was true, that the conviction could actually help Trump win the election, Biden said no. “I have no idea,” he said.

The president's official statement got here initially of an announcement of the most recent ceasefire proposal within the Middle East and just before a gathering with the Belgian prime minister and a celebration of the Kansas City Chiefs. Biden then traveled to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, for the weekend before traveling to France next week to attend ceremonies marking the eightieth anniversary of the D-Day invasion.

The Biden team is just too comfortable to advertise this contrast: on the one hand, a commander in chief who welcomes foreign leaders and football champions to the White House, grapples with the necessary problems with war and peace, and travels to the famous beaches of Normandy to honor American heroes. On the opposite hand, a challenger who rails against the system and prepares for a criminal trial that might see him receive a jail sentence, as is common with serious criminals.

“Trump will sink even deeper into anger and self-pity. He can't help it,” Axelrod said. “Biden and the campaign would do well to focus more on the contrast between a president who is fighting for people's most pressing concerns and Trump who is fighting only for himself.”

This story originally appeared within the New York Times.

The Boston City Council passed one resolution Wednesday will mark Jewish American Heritage Month and denounce “all forms of anti-Semitism and hatred.”

The vote comes per week after the body passed a resolution calling for a direct and everlasting ceasefire in Gaza.

“We voted last week for a ceasefire, the return of all hostages and the resumption of humanitarian assistance because this body is able to hold in its heart the suffering of all the innocent people killed in the Middle East. “City Councilor Benjamin Weber, who submitted the resolution, said during Meeting on Wednesday. “This is another opportunity to acknowledge that pain and do what we can for the people of Boston, not only calling for peace but calling out hate.”

All 12 city council members present voted in favor. Councilwoman Julia Mejia was absent.

Ahead of the meeting, Councilman Ed Flynn submitted a motion separate resolution to denounce anti-Semitism. It was withdrawn through the meeting, with City Clerk Alex Geourntas citing a ruling involving resolutions or other filings that were too much like the measures first filed. This decision was made by Geourntas and Council President Ruthzee Louijeune. The two resolutions have a typical theme and share among the same language, which ends up in the resolution.

Flynn argued that his decision was clear enough to warrant a separate vote. The language of his resolution relies on other measures related to the rise within the actions of white Supremecists and quite a lot of hate crimes within the region, he said.

“I take these issues very seriously, as do my colleagues. That's why I think this issue of anti-Semitism and hate crimes is different than honoring the enormous contributions and sacrifices of the Jewish community,” Flynn said, noting that he disagrees with that resolution “out of respect.”

Weber noted that he also found the two resolutions very similar, saying that he “coincidentally” filed with Flynn and that his resolution likely would have been subject to the similar filing rule if the order had been reversed. Louijeune agreed.

Flynn spoke in favor of Weber's resolution and voted for it. Last week's ceasefire resolution received only two dissenting votes: from Flynn and Councilwoman Erin Murphy. They both advocated for the preservation of human life, but argued that this resolution was irrelevant to the city's affairs.

The ceasefire resolution passed by the city council was met with some criticism from Jewish groups. Rabbi Ron Fish, interim regional director of the Anti-Defamation League New England, called it “one-sided” for not mentioning the attacks on Israel staged by Hamas on October seventh. This didn’t paint a whole picture of Hamas's complicity within the war and lack of a ceasefire, he said.

In his speech on Wednesday, Weber, who’s Jewish, referred to a speech President Joe Biden held a memorial event the day before in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day. Biden condemned the anti-Semitism that has emerged at some student protests, complaining that too many “deny, downplay, rationalize, [and] Ignoring the horrors of the Holocaust and October seventh.”

This is a remarkable step, said Biden paused some bomb shipments to Israel amid concerns that a full-scale military operation in town of Rafah could lead on to a fair more catastrophic humanitarian crisis. The decision prompted some members of the Israeli government to achieve this say that Biden sympathized with Hamas.

Weber reiterated Biden's message a couple of rise in anti-Semitism, saying he has “no doubt” that hateful rhetoric and actions against Jews have increased since October 7. However, he stressed that anti-Semitism could be delivered to light while criticizing the Israeli government

“Jews were deeply affected by the October 7 attack and its terrible consequences. Jews demonstrated in large numbers for Israel and the return of the hostages. “Many have also joined camps and marches to demand an immediate ceasefire and an end to the Israeli government’s occupation,” Weber said.

Many city council members spoke in favor of Weber's resolution. This included City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson, who pushed the ceasefire resolution last week.

Fernandes Anderson, a Muslim who has been a vocal advocate for the Palestinians, spoke about how each Judaism and Islam share fundamental teachings in regards to the importance of being kind to others. She spoke enthusiastically about how Jewish leaders in Boston stood with Muslims in 2017 when former President Donald Trump tried to pass laws Travel ban to people from predominantly Muslim countries.

“One thing that I think is special about the resolution is that it strengthens the spirit of advocacy and solidarity that is alive and well in the Jewish community today,” Fernandes Anderson said.
