Joe Mace delivered a concise answer with little emotions on the face when he was asked about the potential for the NBA reduction quarters from 12 minutes to 10.

“I don't care,” said Mazzulla. “Whatever you have to do. Just play the game. ”

Mazzulla might not be inquisitive about the concept, however the league commissioner Adam Sliver said The Dan Patrick Show.

Patrick asked Silver to share the “wildest thing” that the league is considering the optimization of sport, and used the choice of the NFL to alter kickoffs for instance of what he was searching for.

Silver hovered two concepts: 3-point shooter, which were fouled two free forests as an alternative of three, and the sport shortened. With the tv value of the league, Silver said that a shorter product may very well be more tempting for fans.

“Something else that I am a fan and is probably in the minority is when we are more involved in global basketball. The NBA is the only league that plays 48 minutes,” said Silver. “I’m a fan of 4, 10-minute quarters. I’m unsure that many others are. “

“I believe to place aside what it means for recordings and such things, I believe that a two -hour format for a game with modern television habits matches. People within the arenas don’t ask us to shorten the sport, but I believe as a television program is 2 hours -Olympia basketball takes two hours, College basketball is in fact 40 minutes. “

In 2023, Major League Baseball implemented a pitch clock that led to shorter games. Silver said he was a fan of how it played out how the way the fans dealt with sport. If such a change can make such a change in tradition in tradition, the NBA should not be afraid to take a look at it, said Silver.

However, such a step would be a “dramatic” change in the game. Silver said it would require more discussion over time if it ever happened. In general, players would make it more difficult to shorten the games, to achieve past records.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn_v3uag6f0

“I'm probably more traditional, so I would hate it to see”, ” Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said. “That is only personal [opinion]. I didn't really think about it just because of the records and things of this kind. I think we have a great game. I think what people want to see is competition. “

Nuggets coach Michael Malone He also said he was strong against the thought.

“I give the league recognition because they always try to find paths to keep the fans busy,” he said. “But I hope we won't go in 10 minutes. I hope we don't enter a 4-point line. I hope we will not do what we have to do in Barnum & Bailey to keep the audience. Because this game has a size and a story and a purity for this game, from which I hope that we will find a way with which we can stay loyal. “

It would have an effect on other features of the sport, equivalent to load management, said Bulls coach Billy Donovan before Chicago lost to the Celtics within the TD Garden on Wednesday.

Eight minutes less minutes per game would take 656 minutes per season from the schedule, which corresponds to 13.6 48-minute games. In recent years, the NBA has had problems wherein certain Star players have a tough time staying on the ground. Less minutes may very well be a method to rest players without taking games out of the schedule.

“Some of me would think that it happened that the game pace has become so fast that there are so many games and I think they see the durability of the players,” said Donovan. “In today's world, there is a lot of physically these boys that they probably don't have to do with a period of time.”

“I think every year the game has become faster and faster and more common and there are now much more possessions than there were,” he added. “Our boys in medicine -I am sure that it is the case with every team, they are following these sprint metrics and the sprint numbers for some of these boys are incredible, these guys who play 32 to 36 minutes. It is a lot. In the NBA you play back to backs, you play four to seven. The schedule is there a lot of density. It probably makes it difficult. ”

The NBA's TV viewer is okay, but in comparison with the next social media, Silver fades a viral video by Victor Wembanyama by San Antonio in New York City, which was viewed by tons of of tens of millions of individuals.

The job of the commissioner, said Silver, is meant to make more basketball lovers observe the NBA and observe it longer. The league checks quite a lot of topics from the query of whether teams are shooting too many threesome to the time of how long the games take because they proceed to position themselves for the longer term, he said.

“Tag by day, and I have all different streaming services, and I have all different programs available,” said Silver. “I don't think it’s an accident that folks are increasingly inquisitive about Premium -Live sports. Not only basketball, but obviously football, hockey, baseball etc. WNBA now. “

“I believe it’s because people ran like something that’s live, something that will not be written, something that can be entertaining,” he added. “I think basketball and the NBA can be all of these things, but our job has become so much more difficult because we compete against so many different forms of entertainment. They are podcasts and social media as well as unlimited number of channels and programming. So we also have to improve our game to ensure that we find programming and opportunities to hire viewers and teach people about the game. ”

The Patriots were expected to be among the many teams attempting to sign 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk in a trade, but have reportedly put the deal on hold.

Accordingly ESPN's Adam SchefterNew England “has decided not to explore any further trade options” involving Aiyuk. Why the Patriots backed out of searching for a deal was not immediately clear, but Schefter later provided some additional details.

Speaking during a SportsCenter Interview On Tuesday night, Schefter outlined the Patriots' thoughts on Aiyuk.

“New England had set the parameters for a trade with San Francisco. That wasn't the problem,” Schefter explained. “But they didn't have a good feeling here when they tried to communicate with Brandon Aiyuk and his agent.”

“The longer it went on, the worse they felt,” he added. “At some point they said, 'What are we doing here? Let's just focus on the young receivers we have.' They're excited about them.”

For the Patriots, rookie wide receivers Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker are currently completing their first NFL training camp. New England also has younger wide receivers DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Jalen Raegor and Tyquan Thornton on a packed roster at that position.

Schefter identified that the move was a conscious decision by New England management, not simply to attempt to force something for the sake of it.

“Instead of going ahead and giving up a huge amount of severance pay to the 49ers — after or before they gave up a huge contract with Brandon Aiyuk that he didn't seem particularly receptive to — they said, 'We're just going to wait and see and hold off.' So the Patriots have backed off and will not seek another trade for Brandon Aiyuk.”

There are changes within the Celtics ownership group: Boston Basketball Partners has announced plans to sell the team.

Accordingly Dan Shaugnessy of the Boston GlobeThe sale is being pushed by H. Irving Grousbeck, the daddy of Celtics governor Wyc Grousbeck.

The move is reportedly a part of Grousbeck's try and get his affairs so as.

NBA Commissioner Adam Sliver expressed his response to the move this week through the Summer League in Las Vegas.

“I’m honestly sad about it,” Silver said loudly Souichi Terada of MassLive. “Simply because they not only won two championships (under the current owners), but also managed the team in a first-class manner and he was a first-class owner in this league,”

“I respect his family's decision to sell the team,” Silver added. “I think it's bittersweet for everyone. Hopefully the successor owner or owners will be as fantastic stewards of the team as they have been. They have been an exemplary franchise with exemplary owners.”

Silver praised Wyc Grousbeck for his commitment to the league.

“Wyc has been with the league for about 22 years now,” Silver said. “He was a leader in our committee system on our board of directors. He was closely involved in every aspect of the league, from collective bargaining to profit sharing to the media. I understand the family circumstances and why he and his family decided to sell the franchise at this time.”

The Celtics just won their first championship since 2008. The decision to sell shocked many, including star striker Jayson Tatum.

Brad Stevens, Celtics president of basketball operations, said the ownership group's intent to sell just isn’t expected to affect the operational side of things for now. While the ownership group intends to sell a majority stake either this yr or next, Wyc Grousbeck plans to remain in office as governor through 2028.

With the recent devastating heat wave that sent temperatures above 104 degrees Fahrenheit in lots of parts of the state and the severe droughts and big wildfires of recent years still fresh within the minds of California voters, they’re strongly supporting a bill within the November ballot that might allocate $10 billion to combat climate change.

By a margin of 59% to 40%, likely voters said they might vote yes on Proposition 4.

The Opinion pollof the Public Policy Institute of California, a nonpartisan research center based in San Francisco, also found that Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of Burbank has a big lead in California's Senate race over Republican Steve Garvey, a former first baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres.

Among likely voters, Schiff was leading at 64 percent to Garvey's 33 percent — an excellent larger lead than in the identical poll in April, when he led 61 percent to 37 percent within the race for former Sen. Dianne Feinstein's seat.

The survey of 1,648 adults in California was conducted from June 24 to July 2.

In particular, it was found that the state's residents say they’re increasingly uncomfortable and anxious about climate change, particularly because it affects their homes.

Overall, 81% of adults said they were “very concerned” or “somewhat concerned” that home insurance would change into dearer as a result of the risks of climate change.

Last 12 months, several major insurance firms, including Allstate, State Farm and Farmers, reduced the number of recent policies they issued in California and other Western states as a result of the rising risk of wildfires, while others fired existing customers or raised their premiums by 1000’s of dollars a 12 months. Similar changes occurred in Florida, North Carolina and other Southern states as a result of the specter of hurricanes.

A staggering 24% of Californians said they’ve considered moving as a result of the impacts of climate change. Residents of the Central Valley (28%) were the probably to say they’ve considered moving, while residents of the Orange County-San Diego County region (16%) were the least more likely to say so. Among Bay Area residents, 23% said they’ve considered moving as a result of risks reminiscent of heat waves, wildfires, flooding or the chance of rising sea levels.

“The public is more aware of climate change and its associated risks based on their personal experiences in this state over the past few years,” said Mark Baldassare, PPIC’s statewide poll director.

“First it was the drought, then heavy rains and floods, and most recently the heatwave. All of this leads to the realization that something has changed.”

The poll also found that 67 percent of Californians oppose recent offshore oil drilling off the California coast, while 78 percent support the development of offshore wind turbines within the sea to generate renewable energy.

And by a 66% to 33% margin, Californians support existing state law that requires 100% of the state's electricity to come back from renewable or carbon-free energy, reminiscent of wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric or nuclear, slightly than coal and natural gas.

However, there are some areas where they disagree with the policies of Governor Gavin Newsom, his predecessor Jerry Brown or the Democrats who control the state legislature.

By a 60-39 percent margin, a majority of Californians oppose the state law signed by Newsom that may ban the sale of recent gasoline-powered passenger vehicles starting in 2035. Support for this first-in-the-nation law, which also applies in lots of European countries, has steadily declined in California; in July 2021, approval in the identical poll was 49-49 percent.

Even though many Californians support renewable energy, 56 percent say they might not be willing to pay more for it, while 44 percent said they might. Before the COVID pandemic caused global inflation to spike, and before PG&E rates saw their recent increases, those numbers were reversed. In the 2016 PPIC survey, for instance, 56 percent of Californians said they might be willing to pay more for renewable energy, while 40 percent said they might not.

For environmental groups, Wednesday's poll contained some excellent news.

It was the primary bipartisan statewide poll to gauge public support for Proposition 4, the $10 billion climate bond, since Democrats within the state legislature voted to place it on the ballot two weeks ago. More than 100 environmental groups, from the Sierra Club to Audubon California, pushed for passage of the measure all 12 months as a option to offset climate programs that were cut from this 12 months's budget to make up for a deficit. Taxpayer groups opposed the measure, saying California would should cut other programs to lift the cash.

“We are pleased,” said Mike Sweeney, California director of the Nature Conservancy. “This shows that we have created a bond that addresses the greatest concerns of voters.”

A majority of likely voters within the PPIC poll said they support the bond in every region of the state. Support was strongest amongst voters earning lower than $40,000 a 12 months (66%).

If approved by voters, Proposition 4 would supply $3.8 billion for water projects, including groundwater storage, recycled water, desalination and reservoirs; $1.5 billion for wildfire resilience, primarily through forest thinning and controlled fires; $1.2 billion for projects to deal with rising sea levels, including restoring beaches, wetlands and coastal bluffs; $1.2 billion for wildlife, from restoring salmon runs to constructing highway crossings for wildlife; $850 million for renewable energy and clean air programs; $700 million for parks; $450 million for mitigating extreme heat, reminiscent of by increasing green space in cities and schools; and $300 million for agricultural projects, reminiscent of water conservation and soil health programs.

At least 40 percent of the funds would should be spent in disadvantaged communities, which frequently have the fewest parks and green spaces and the very best levels of air pollution.

Adam Copeland resigned from his position as KNBR program director on Thursday, days after he was criticized for his behavior on social media in a column published on a sports media website.

According to an internal memo obtained by this news organization, Copeland, 35, will deal with his afternoon show, “Tolbert & Copes,” which he hosted while serving as program director.

Copeland declined to comment on the move.

Barrett Sports Media, the web site that published a set of unflattering tweets from Copeland, was the primary to report on his resignation.

The job of program director is of course short-lived within the radio industry, but at KNBR, the flagship station of the Giants and 49ers, there was significant turnover within the position.

Copeland was named program director in November, succeeding Kevin Graham, who held the post for about two years. Before Graham, Jeremiah Crowe served as program director for five years.

Copeland began as an intern on the station in 2009 and worked his way as much as board operator, producer and host. He was named considered one of the Top 30 Sports Reporters Under 30 by Sports Talent Agency in 2018 and was recognized as a Future African American Leader in Radio by Radio Ink Magazine.

Copeland has hosted the afternoon show with Tom Tolbert since 2022 and can proceed to accomplish that. It is rare and a significant workload when a program director also serves because the each day host.

Shortly after KNBR named Copeland as program director in November, the station, which is owned by Cumulus Media, laid off many employees, including longtime anchor Paul McCaffrey. Although he had only been on the job for just a few months, Copeland bore the brunt of public criticism over the cuts.

Before Copeland took over as program director, the station struggled for months within the rankings battle against 95.7 The Game. But in January, February, March and April of this yr, KNBR rebounded and beat its rival.

The staff on the programming side enjoyed working for Copeland, several sources said. Communication between shows and departments improved. His vision led to a cleaner program, one anchor said.

Some who benefited professionally from Copeland's tenure as program director are disillusioned that it’s ending.

Copeland's resignation as program director got here after Jason Barrett, the owner of trade publication Barrett Sports Media, sharply criticized his behavior on social media. Copeland initially criticized Barrett's website for not reporting on KNBR's recent rankings successes over The Game, the Bay Area's other pure-play sports radio station.

According to his bio, Barrett helped launch 95.7 The Game before starting his own media company, which Copeland interpreted as bias in his reporting. Barrett wrote that he objectively monitors the market and reports complete rankings that appear seasonally – not monthly.

Barrett's column included tweet replies from Copeland through which he used profanity and private insults toward listeners.

A source accustomed to the situation said KNBR leadership never noticed Copeland's social media habits before last week. Cumulus market manager Larry Blumhagen couldn’t be reached for comment.

Copeland will return as co-host of “Tolbert & Copes” on May 30.
